Drove past there this afternoon, didn't notice anything. Not sure they'd be doing anything noticeable that quickly though, and I tend to ignore the blight areas when I go downtown anyway.

That said, it's ridiculous that any kind of city improvement could be held up on account of those two eyesore hotels. Abandoned for decades. Plain, boxy, boring architecture. "Historic" primarily because no one has had the means and motivation to tear them down in the last 40 years.

Park avenue hasn't been abandoned for decades, I haven't been out there in a few years, but it was an apartment/hotel thing...

I did drywall paint and some wiring in their about six years ago.

I wouldn't call it an eyesore either, inside has the potential to be beautiful....

That said I'd have no problems with them taking it down, there was a huge amount of work to be done in it then, and those building are hard to maintain.. but still.

Looks like things are really starting to get moving. Read on Twitter that someone said construction already started? That true, I don't live in Detroit so I'm not sure.

I live a block or so away and did not notice any construction. It may not be anything noticeable.
