kliq 3,763 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) Does anyone know the answer to this? If you look at the Wings roster on CapFriendly.com or NHLnumbers.com when you look at the minor league section, it only shows certain players who dont play in the AHL. As far as non AHL players go (guys that play in Europe, ECHL and CHL) they show Nastasiuk, Hronek, Paterson, Holmstrom, Saarijarvi and Smith, but where are the rest? For example, why doesnt it show Cholowski, Malmstrom, Sambrook, Filip Larsson, or Elfstrom? Have these guys not signed a pro contract yet? Is it because they are in collage? Does anyone know a site that lists everyone in the Wings system, and where they are? https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/redwings http://stats.nhlnumbers.com/teams/DET?year=2017 Edited March 6, 2017 by kliq
kliq 3,763 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 Ok after giving it more thought, it must be because these guys have not signed a pro contract. But what I want to know is if a team does not sign a draft pick to a pro contract, when is the prospect free to sign elsewhere? I have no idea how this part works. 1 greenrebellion reacted to this
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 Yes, it is because the guys you've mentioned have not yet signed a contract with the Red Wings. Teams have two years after drafting a player to sign them to a contract. If a player does not receive a contract in that time, they are eligible to re-enter the draft (if younger than 20 years old). If the player is 20 or older, he becomes a free-agent and is free to sign with any team. That's how we snagged Russo from the Islanders a couple years ago. 2 amato and kliq reacted to this

The amazing job Matt Wuest did for that site cannot be replicated, but I do wish someone would at least try to get a similar site up again... There's nothing even remotely close right now (as far as I know). 1 LeftWinger reacted to this
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 Some of the core group of posters from the old RWC started a new site called redwingcenter.com to try and keep it going, but nobody had the time or connections that Matt had. The forums are going, but we don't have the prospect info we had originally planned.
