The actual stats show their attendance has been declining in each of the last 4 years. The arena capacity is 5,800 and they were drawing 5,300 three years ago, down to 5150 two years ago, 5,000 last year and 4,500 this season (77% capacity). I'm no longer a STH, but the 5 home games I been to this year including home opener were sold out. And when given a 2nd chance, the Bay area has proven to be a successful NHL market with the Sharks. And the one that everyone thought was a "hockey market" (Minnesota) ended up relocating. You just never know. Kansas City metro area is over 2 million people, similar population to Denver, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill metro area. You would need less than 1% of the population to show up for games to sell out. St Louis is proof that the NHL could succeed there. Fun fact: Atlanta isn't the only city to lose 2 NHL teams.
