If this is how AA plays every night or even most nights, this team will be back in the playoffs sooner than later.  He reminds me a lot of Fedorov.  The way he skates, the speed, the way he controls the game.  People complain about his ability to finish.  Well, AA gets two goals on 7 shots and he needs to "learn how to finish".  Ovechkin does the exact same thing most nights and he's a sniper.  I get that Ovie's a 50 goal scorer, but takes performances like AA's from the last few games and spread it out over a season and he's up in the 50 goal tier too.

My favorite part of that OT winner was Ken Daniels' call right after the goal was scored. "That's why you start speed in 3on3 in overtime". F***in right Ken! I hope you're paying attention Jeff...

To Jeff's credit, he was the one who played him in OT...

He sure did. I hope he realizes that was our first OT win, and it was because of speed and skill.

Too often it feels like we're trying not to lose, or just make it to the shootout, rather than trying to win it in OT. Speed kills in 3on3.

I wouldn't go that far. Draper had better hands than Helm. I remember him performing well in offensive roles when he was given opportunities to play in the top 6 back in the day

Helm actually has a better PPG pace than Draper, and Drapes played on much better Red Wings teams.

Replace 90's/2000's Draper with our Helm, and our Helm with 90's/2000's Draper, and we'd be talking about the glory days of championship grind line Helm and how Draper isn't as good. It's all relative.

About the overtime goal, a small tidbit I noticed: look at Athanasiou's face right after the goal, it's mimicking 'I should have had that at the first or second try, finally god damn it. Almost shameful'.

Point being, that's the right attitude, atleast from what I've noticed from the best, they always look at what they should have done, and try to make sure it gets done, with an edge.
Bodes well.
