If they have to use the company name they should have gone with Little Caesars Colosseum. ;)

#2662408 2016 Playoffs % chances (part II)

Posted by KingBobCat on 27 March 2016 - 10:22 AM

Said it before... I don't care if this team doesn't make the playoffs. The way they're playing, they wouldn't do anything this year anyways. I don't even care if they don't make it for a few years if that's what it takes to make meaningful steps toward getting the right balance of players (and coaching) who show up every night...

When we played Colorado outdoors this year, there was a pre-show featuring the story of the rivalry back in the late 90's early 2000's. As I sat there and watched the fantastic guys we had on the team then and how freaking awesome we used to be, I though "God, what a stark comparison to where we are now..." It's sadly true...

They lost 5-0, no. ;)

#2653474 Dennis Wideman Suspended 20 Games

Posted by Barrie on 17 February 2016 - 06:53 PM

I thought he should have sat out the rest of the year, but I'm satisfied his 20 game suspension stuck. Wideman had no excuse. Players get concussed in hockey all the time, and none of them have gone after an official. As mentioned, I think if any reduction in the suspension would have made it open season on the officials, and the player could have said, "Oh sorry, I had a concussion".

Who was the last Wings goalie to lead the league in either GAA or save percentage?

#2616837 Lucic to LA

Posted by The Greek on 26 June 2015 - 09:57 PM

What did he ever do to us that caused us problems?
He took stupid penalties, that's about it.

He tried to neuter Dekeyser, and it wasn't even his first time. That's more than enough for me.

#2615451 Will Wings Revisit Signing Phaneuf?

Posted by krsmith17 on 20 June 2015 - 09:49 AM

Frank, Phaneuf is not the "best option by far". If you're looking for the most rugged, physical defenseman available that can also put up points, the best option by far is Cody Franson. He wouldn't cost us any assets, he would come with a cheaper cap hit, he's 3 years younger, he's bigger, stronger, hits more, blocks almost as many shots, provides almost as much offense, he's a right handed shot, he is an upgrade in almost every area in my opinion... Franson > Phaneuf

#2615164 Which Sweater Do RWs Retire First - Feds or Ozzy?

Posted by jimmyemeryhunter on 18 June 2015 - 10:38 PM

At first I thought you were asking about destroying their names with stupidity.

It's a fair question, though. Kronner would need to play 58 minutes per game for the rest of his career, keeping his +/- at a cozy +83, as well as find that elite partner. While the guy is awesome, he isn't up there so far. The young guns don't seem to have the drive or intensity that is required to become one of the Demi-Gods with their shirts in the rafters. Maybe that's not even accurate, but there something missing from them..

Haha.
59 minutes/per game or its not even close...
But I agree. The kids don't seem as skilled or as driven, or anywhere near as impactful as hank and pav were when they first got here.
Mostly pav, the first time I saw him play I thought he'd be the best player in the NHL.
I was on the glass in 02' and he skated up the wing pulled the puck between his legs and made both defenseman and the center look like they didn't belong in the league...
Maybe I'm just over romanticizing the past, but the only one I have any feeling of possible greatness..
But I could see with Nyquist if he suddenly becomes a center scoring 28+goals, which isn't out of the question.
Z did it, but he just has that drive to want to be the best that I haven't really seen yet from Nyquist.

#2615103 Jets re-sign Anthony Peluso for only 675.000 AAV (2 years)

Posted by Bring Back The Bruise Bros on 18 June 2015 - 01:36 PM

Andersson doesn't do anything all that well.  I would trade him straight up for Peluso with no additional compensation.

I'd trade Andersson for an Anthony Peluso rookie card, honestly.

You must claim to be some kind of fan of both Osgood and Fedorov, maybe more Osgood since you voted for him. You didn't spell either name correctly. When your misspellings are pointed out, you don't have enough time to go edit the post and correct it. You do have enough time to reply to my post and tell me that you don't have enough time to edit. You're a confusing human.

This whole thread is classic number 9. He knows exactly what he's saying. The best part is that an actual debate broke out from this thread.

#2613263 Time for an offer sheet?

Posted by wings87 on 05 June 2015 - 12:34 PM

Offer sheets rarely work out (see Edmonton).

P.s. Isn't it awesome that Edmonton is around to be used as an example anytime something s***ty happens? What are we going to do if they ever get good?

It all makes sense now, he was still scoring just not the type we thought. Oh well, I forgive him now.
