Do we even have mods anymore or what? Frank makes homosexual slurs in another thread, with no discipline associated, and now this guy's comments? I thought the rules on offensive posts were pretty clear but apparently that doesn't matter if nobody does anything about it.
Said it before... I don't care if this team doesn't make the playoffs. The way they're playing, they wouldn't do anything this year anyways. I don't even care if they don't make it for a few years if that's what it takes to make meaningful steps toward getting the right balance of players (and coaching) who show up every night...
When we played Colorado outdoors this year, there was a pre-show featuring the story of the rivalry back in the late 90's early 2000's. As I sat there and watched the fantastic guys we had on the team then and how freaking awesome we used to be, I though "God, what a stark comparison to where we are now..." It's sadly true...
I thought he should have sat out the rest of the year, but I'm satisfied his 20 game suspension stuck. Wideman had no excuse. Players get concussed in hockey all the time, and none of them have gone after an official. As mentioned, I think if any reduction in the suspension would have made it open season on the officials, and the player could have said, "Oh sorry, I had a concussion".
Frank, Phaneuf is not the "best option by far". If you're looking for the most rugged, physical defenseman available that can also put up points, the best option by far is Cody Franson. He wouldn't cost us any assets, he would come with a cheaper cap hit, he's 3 years younger, he's bigger, stronger, hits more, blocks almost as many shots, provides almost as much offense, he's a right handed shot, he is an upgrade in almost every area in my opinion... Franson > Phaneuf
At first I thought you were asking about destroying their names with stupidity.
It's a fair question, though. Kronner would need to play 58 minutes per game for the rest of his career, keeping his +/- at a cozy +83, as well as find that elite partner. While the guy is awesome, he isn't up there so far. The young guns don't seem to have the drive or intensity that is required to become one of the Demi-Gods with their shirts in the rafters. Maybe that's not even accurate, but there something missing from them..
59 minutes/per game or its not even close...
But I agree. The kids don't seem as skilled or as driven, or anywhere near as impactful as hank and pav were when they first got here.
Mostly pav, the first time I saw him play I thought he'd be the best player in the NHL.
I was on the glass in 02' and he skated up the wing pulled the puck between his legs and made both defenseman and the center look like they didn't belong in the league...
Maybe I'm just over romanticizing the past, but the only one I have any feeling of possible greatness..
But I could see with Nyquist if he suddenly becomes a center scoring 28+goals, which isn't out of the question.
Z did it, but he just has that drive to want to be the best that I haven't really seen yet from Nyquist.
You must claim to be some kind of fan of both Osgood and Fedorov, maybe more Osgood since you voted for him. You didn't spell either name correctly. When your misspellings are pointed out, you don't have enough time to go edit the post and correct it. You do have enough time to reply to my post and tell me that you don't have enough time to edit. You're a confusing human.
This whole thread is classic number 9. He knows exactly what he's saying. The best part is that an actual debate broke out from this thread.
