I gotta think we could easily have an enforcer or at least someone tough that could still contribute more in other aspects of the game thanf****** emmerton and mursak. That being said we could also insert a traffic cone, a monkey, or a Jason williams over them....
GUESS WHAT?! I got a fevah! And the only prescription is MORE NYQUIST!!
Ahem, anyway, regular season games don't get much more nitty-gritty than this. Whaddya say we help ourselves toward a little home ice advantage, and give our potential first-round matchup something to think about over the next week or so.
Forget Nash, we want Umberger or Johansen on the cover for Columbus! There's quite a few odd options, some teams I don't think either player should be the cover guy on NHL13. You have a team with Ovechkin, Backstrom, Semin, and Green and the options for the Caps are Laich and Carlson?
Maybe they did this on purpose, maybe there are players they don't want to be the cover athlete for whatever reasons. Personally I am so glad Crosby is not on the list of players to vote for, if he was on the cover I don't know if I could buy the game haha.
Sigh, The sky isnt falling but Detroit definitely needs to address there need for a scorer hopefully we can this off season. There was no way we could compete with the price for Carter. We don't have a guy like Jack Johnson to trade unless you want to deal Filppula or Franzen and even then I dont think Filp is enough and dealing Franzen leaves us in the same spot we started in.
I guess we won't really see how much of a difference adding Quincey will make until we are Healthy and we can see how good our Team Defense can play.
Heres to hoping that the small moves that all the other West Coast teams made all end up really being just a slight improvement, and that there prospects pools are too slim to compete in the next 2-4 years.
I would love for this team to flip Franzen for someone who shows up every night. I like Mule when he is playing hard but when he just floats around and acts as if he is 5 feet tall 123 lbs it gets frustrating.
1. YES, Yandle would make perfect sense for this team long term. 2. YES, Holland can put together a package that would make sense for both teams.
3. YES, Our biggest problem to any of this may very well be the man(men) behind the curtain who are running the show in the desert. Who or whom are actually running the team(Bettman, BOG?) and with the current situation(staying, going?) just what exactly is the motive they're using.
They could what the best all out team that can compete for the cup asap(fans choice). A competitive team with a fair amount of prospects(potential buyers choice) or something else completely. I just don't see Bettman or the BOG giving us the next possible Lindstrom for around fair market value. This is the situation that would worry me the most in term of mischief considering the league still owns the team.
I fail to see how anyone can call this deal "bad" at this particular moment. It's not hurting anything. Red Wings have plenty of cap space to afford it, and lots of $$ cash left to improve the team. (No Kenny isn't getting Richards, never was)
How do we know what went on behind the scenes? It sounds like Holland wanted Ericsson for about $1.8 to $2.0 million. Ericsson is in the press speaking how he wants the chance to advance to the next level. Ericsson know's he'd easily get $3.75+ or more tomorrow. So really he took a discount.
Knowing this, Holland probably said: "Okay, $3.25 then, but if you don't progress, I am packaging you up and trading you! - Ericsson, do you understand that I will trade you if you do not meet my expectations, right?"
Ericsson - "Yes Mr. Holland, I understand!"
[worse case scenario, seven months later Ericsson has not improved, Holland trades him with a pick/prospect for a nice return]
In this market, Holland can get a nice return on Big Rig with this current contract. This is called "asset management". It might not look good right now, but I am sure Kenny has a plan.
I still fail to see how this is a good signing. There might not be any good free agents this year to spend money on, but what about the next 3 years? Im sure we would love to have the cap space we blew on Ericsson back, and you say its not hurting us...
