In Topic: Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Read an article on my phone in some news app so not sure where the link is for it but it mentioned a trade of Eberle from Edmonton for Mrazek as he is behind our goalies. The basic thinking was they have many skilled forwards, but need a goalie and Eberle is who they would get the most return for.

Could be interesting.

No way in hell I want Diving Devin Setoguchi anywhere near this team. I still remember him flopping all over the ice that one year in the playoffs. It's been said before that he even dives in shootouts!

But some size couldn't hurt.

I'm in Vancouver and they talk about Kassian all the time on Team 1040 and I'm not sure he could be had for cheap. At least if you believe the guys on the radio that is. There was talk at length of someone trying to sign him and paying the compensation.

I'm not sure what it is with people on these boards wanting to pick up Vancouver's scraps. But I would pass unless it cost us literally nothing.

Yeah, a lot of them road hot goalies. As for Edmonton it's more their drafting philosophy of taking the best player available and not the best player that fits their needs that has screwed them up so bad.

I agree, I was readying an interesting article awhile back that said something like Franchise players don't get picked outside the top four picks. The chances of finding one outside the top two picks are slim at best.on a good success rate. Everything after that is more luck based. Same article also mentioned how Detroit has been the best franchise of the last decade. Granted the article was a few years old.

How about I ask the Pens, or the Blackhawks how they like having some early picks or how about Colorado?

Why not ask Edmonton too. There are teams that have picked early for years and never got out of the basement and perhaps never will.

On a different point, In the playoffs anything can happen. A injury or two can decimate a teams chances. One player getting hot can vastly improve them. Calgary went deep, Edmonton too, who would have though Carolina would win a cup for christ sake?
