Don't perceive my "depression" over this skid as giving totally up but the storm clouds are gathering on the horizon. I wouldn't expect Mrazek and Smith to pull us across the line be happy to be wrong but.... I am more disappointed at the players that have been here done that said the same things the last couple of years. Then go out and have the same blah performance or zero fire after things go south like against the Caps.

It's essentially a make-or-break situation for Detroit. This race is incredibly close and they have wasted 10 points in the last 5 games—games that were within their reach. Can Smith and Mrazek provide the necessary depth and experience? Or will they simply be press box warmers who indulge in hoagie snacks? I don't care if we lose in the first round; I want to make the playoffs. I am exhausted by lottery picks and the disappointment of missing the playoffs. Current Wild Card standing March 10, 2025

Senators vs. Red Wings Date: Monday, March 10 Time: 7:30 p.m. ET The legendary showdown unfolds as the Detroit Red Wings aim to break their five-game slide with a crucial victory over the Ottawa Senators. Ottawa stands at 32-25-5 overall and 7-8-1 against the Atlantic Division. The Senators command the ice, ranking seventh in league play with 246 total penalties, averaging 4.0 per game. Detroit, with a record of 7-9-1 against the Atlantic Division and 30-27-6 overall, faces their challenge. The Red Wings hold a 6-7-3 record in games where their opponents navigate fewer penalty minutes. The teams will clash on Monday for the third time this season, with the Red Wings having triumphed in the last encounter, winning 3-2 in a dramatic overtime finish. TOP PERFORMERS: In the spotlight, Tim Stutzle dazzles with 20 goals and 45 assists for the Senators, while Brady Tkachuk has netted six goals and provided two assists over the past 10 games. For the Red Wings, young star Lucas Raymond shines brightly with 22 goals and 43 assists. Meanwhile, Alex DeBrincat has scored six goals and tallied five assists in his last 10 outings. LAST 10 GAMES: Senators: 4-5-1, averaging three goals, 4.9 assists, 3.8 penalties, and 8.5 penalty minutes, while yielding 3.4 goals per game. Red Wings: 3-6-1, averaging 2.8 goals, 4.6 assists, 2.4 penalties, and 5.9 penalty minutes, while surrendering 3.8 goals per game. As the tension builds, who will emerge victorious in this battle on the ice? Critical game for playoffs! I certainly hope Mrazek is starting because we need to see what he can do. This is no time just to have him as a depth 3rd starter, put him in and see if he makes a difference. Smith better be playing as well. The projected lineup shows them not even dressing, I certainly hope this is not the case or else why even trade for them? It's not like they're on a 5 game win streak and they don't want to mess things up, put these guys in and lets see if they can help turn this around.

A few teams close to us conceded their seasons just before the TDL. Bruins, Islanders and Rangers. We're in a different place ATM. Ownership is not fully on board and SY is probably hearing about lost playoff revenue while trying to hold the owners hand regarding the build vs silly decisions that help the now and hurt the later. Even if we tank now, we can't get a better pick since other teams have already embraced it. Cheers?

No, no, no, I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying that if they lose tonight and decide to pull the plug, they may as well have pulled the plug on Friday instead of waiting only 2 more games. It's too late to sell, so they really can't just bring up more kids to play instead of the vets because there are roster limits. They could totally afford to bring up a couple kids, but the roster is full and they'd have to waive players to make room. That is why we lost Fischer for free. I would be fine if we could still trade a player for at least a pick, but I don't want to lose anyone for free via waivers. We sit at 23/23 right now. Anybody left on our team right now, who would have to clear waivers, probably wouldn't...except for maybe Holl and Lagesson. I wouldn't mind giving Wallinder or Buium a shot if we waived one of those two back to GR.
