I wouldn’t be so sure about Gylander. He had a pretty decent rookie year in Toledo and that league is super hard on goalies. I’d imagine he’ll see plenty of games in GR this year if one of our two top goalies gets injured and Cossa has to move to a backup role in Detroit.

I assume once Talbot is gone the Griffs net will likely belong to Trey and Rudy. With a mix in of gylander and postova. But i dont really see gylander or postova ever becoming NHLers. Fun fact though, I read Postova was down to either Detroit or Edmonton, and so he called his friend Luke Dostal of the Ducks and Dostal straight up told him go with Detroit.

It's possible I guess. Cossa has been in the system for 4 years now. Looks good, but not amazing. Was meh in his first callup this year, and then lost the starting role for the Griffs in the playoffs to Jack Campbell. I assume the G position plays out like this: Gibson/Talbot this year, with Cossa as the 3rd-string callup. Going into the 2026/27 season, Talbot will be released and the new tandem will be Gibson/Cossa. That next summer is also likely when Augustine will sign his ELC and join the Griffins. Once the 2026/27 season ends its a bit more murky. It will depend on the play of Cossa and Gibson during that season. If Cossa doesnt take the #1 spot for himself, I can see Gibson being re-signed, and then we can either choose to trade Cossa, or continue to cook him. He'll be 24ish at that point. If Augustine or Guimond are lighting up the AHL at the same time he would be much easier to trade.

This is definately the first off season where i saw contracts coming in and legit thought: "fuq id rather trade" No one should be handing Gavrikov a $7x7 or Cody Ceci a $15 mil total contract. But Ken Holland's exist... Yzerman said as much in his presser. He's opted to save his money. "What for? He doesnt know yet" thats cool with me. Rather swap assets for a reasonable contract than sign tyler motte to a cowboy contract.

dammit! Isaac Howard was traded to Edmonton, AND he signed a 3 year deal.... I know Yzerman cannot control where players would rather play, but it is just damned depressing that we lose out on some players due to our lackluster play and lack of playoffs. Sorry, just in a crappy mood, and really waiting for something good to happen to pick me up... have a good night...

I don't think enough is being said about just how ungodly good Edvinsson was last year. He started in the defensive zone 54% of the time, was in the 90th percentile in terms of quality of competition, and yet 52% of the goals scored while he was on the ice were scored by Detroit. In other words, he started shifts pinned in his own zone against guys like Kucherov, Barkov, Crosby, Matthews etc. more than half the time and Detroit scored more often than their opponents did when he as on the ice. Good god. On top of that, 30 of his 31 points were scored at even strength. Almost no powerplay time. That's insane production given who he was playing against and where he was logging all his minutes. I'm calling it now, when he's 25 he'll be the best defenseman in the NHL.

I do this every year, so im keeping up with tradition, just have less ammo this off season... anyway, 1. John Gibson Class: Iron Dome Skills: knocks down incoming missles to protect home base. Maintains a strict diet, and definately does not get hoagies lodged in his throat 3 at a time. Because of this weight control, likely won't need to be replaced in the near future. *Disclaimer: will likely need to be replaced by 2-3 new goalies as soon as next year 2. Michael Leighton Class: Drill Instructor Skills: Being 6'3"... we didnt know they stacked shidt that high. Does not discriminate against Hawks, Preds, Canes, Bolts, or Flyers... he was equally worthless on each of those teams. 3. James Van Reimsdyk Class: Grizzled Veteran Skills: has done 11 tours in Philly, Tronna, Boston, Colombus, and the Mekong river delta. Isnt the naive young soldier he once was, but seeing Kane reminds him of losing the cup on Pattys game winning goal in philly, which activates his PTSD sending him into wild frenzies of violent hockey play. In his freetime he enjoys clogging and summering in Rotterdam. 4. Jacob Bernard-Docker Class: Not Nick Perbix Skills: Rejected by both Ottawa and Buffalo, but he's on this team because *insert reason here*. Kinda looks like Nick Perbix, but I assure you, that is actually a man named Jacob Bernard Docker.
