  1. Crosby sits on Subban and punches him in the head repeatedly. Obviously they get matching minors. Is the NHL even trying to hide their favoritism anymore?
  2. Except I'd rather watch Toews play than either Crosby or Malkin. Those two are an embarrassment to hockey despite their elite skill level.
  3. In case anyone was still dismissive or doubtful of the NHL's special treatment of and bias toward the Penguins, look no further than Kunitz's cross check on Subban. Niskanen was immediately handed a game misconduct because Crosby fell into him awkwardly. Kunitz intentionally cross checked another player in the top of the spine while he was face down against the boards and he received a minor penalty. Case closed.
  4. That play was definitively shown to be offside by clear video review. The review that went against the Predators was inconclusive at best. The latter was also immediately followed by a 5-on-3 that was the result of two dives. That all adds up to damning evidence.

11/2 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Flyers 4 (OT)

That goalie interference doesn't get any more blatant. Nielsen was forcing him behind the net and Schenn dove sideways ON TOP of Mrazek. Unbelievable. If I'm Blashill I tell my guys to run their goalie immediately and take the fine. This trend of our goalies getting bulldozed while we get called for breathing on other goalies too hard has to stop.

10/13 GDT : at Tampa Bay Lighting 6, Red Wings 4

One of those bench minors was a direct result of the Lightning committing obvious interference against our guy trying to get off the ice. Yes, our skater shouldn't have gotten onto the ice until his man was off, but that should have been a moot point by the time it occurred.

10/13 GDT : at Tampa Bay Lighting 6, Red Wings 4

Like most meetings against the Lightning, the Wings were handling them nicely until the referees got involved with absurdly soft penalties against the Wings (or declined to get involved on blatant penalties against the Lightning).

    I made a little video for y'all.

Yeah the open ice hits that go through the entire body are not nearly as dangerous as the ones that drive a player's head into the boards. You would think the NHL would be more concerned about the latter, since that's how poster-boy Crosby lost so much playing time.
  9. I apologize if it's against forum rules to start a topic showing my own creation, but I thought you might be interested in watching The Hypocrisy of the Suspension of Niklas Kronwall. ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

I agree that most coaches would jump at the chance to coach for Detroit, but Holland is circling the drain. The last 5 years have been a string of abysmal signings and free agent acquisitions. He was handed the keys to the Cadillac with Yzerman, Lidstrom, and a host of other star players, and every year we've lost talent and replaced it with either imports / minor league players that don't live up to their billing or washed up free agents. Ken Holland gets way too much credit for the Red Wings' success. All of his "accomplishments" can be attributed to the talents and machinations of Mike Ilitch, Jim Devellano, Bryan Murray, Scotty Bowman, and Mike Babcock.

    ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)

First 30 minutes: spectacular. Last 40 minutes: embarrassing. Are they just extremely poorly conditioned or did Julien out-coach Babcock in the second half? A lot of both, I think. A team that can't play a full game will never succeed, but at least it was halfway better than Games 2 & 3.
  13. That is just. not. true. Period. They've scored 1 fluke goal in the last two games combined. I'm not sure where you see our wins coming from, because it's literally impossible to win when you don't score. I'd like to highlight last night's games as examples of your theory being completely baseless. Lehtonen let in 1 goal that was easily as soft as Howard's first goal in Game 3. The Stars went down 2-0 early and rallied later to win the game. Bobrovsky let in 2 goals that were softer than Howard's. The Jackets went down 3-0 VERY early and rallied later to win the game. Crawford let in 2 goals that were softer than Howard's and put the Hawks in a hole. His team then rallied and won the game in OT. Three examples in ONE NIGHT of goalies having worse performances than Howard had in game 3, and three examples of their team winning regardless. By the way, all three were home teams just like Detroit was. The reason they won and we didn't is because of all the players in front of the goalie. End of story.
  14. Some would have us believe that it's the manner in which those few goals were scored that led to our downfall. Some also don't realize that any number of goals, in any manner, would have beaten this team regardless of Howard's solid play.
  15. Howard has had many of those timely big saves you're talking about. But we haven't won, so you're pointing to a couple miscues rather than his overall stellar play.
