I've been watching the Wings for over 20 years now, and honestly I hate when they lose. I get anxious during the playoffs. And pissed when a bad call goes against them.
But if watching them made me as miserable as it seems to make you, I honestly would never watch hockey again. Ever.
The main point of my post was that you gotta go with Howard at this point. Ozzy's way too cold to step in for a game seven. Howard is still the number one goalie and has a better chance of playing big.
And given I have no friggin control over how he plays or what the outcome is, why not hope he plays big and the Wings win?

Disagree to a point. If I pay a hundred dollars for a ticket, I should be owed at the least great effort. If I were a Wings player (no, I'm not a day-drinker), I would feel I owed the fans. However, outside the confines of an NHL arena, I completely agree that a players owes a fan nothing.
I believe as fans of the greatest organization in sports, we should never be ok with anything less than greatness. The minute you lower your expectations, you become the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And this is only a conversation because we are different people with different personalities who handle losses different. Some people get labeled blind optimists, and the others are bandwagon pessimists.

Fair enough, he got a 5 minute boarding call with a couple minutes left in the game and his team down a goal. Every hit is different, and I think this hit has already been properly punished.

I'm guessing the "similarities" are the result of most people liking Ovechkin, and disliking Hossa. Not the actual hits.

True, but calling a penalty simply because the other team has had more even if the "penalty" was as piddly as some that were called is making the officiating look pathetic. Call a penalty because a penalty happened, not because the other team has more.

I'm kind of wondering if the refs are watching different games than the rest of us. The Coyotes have had a huge amount of penalties against them yes, but with every one called there are 2 that aren't. They call every little thing against the wings, and it seems like they are trying to even up the penalties. This is absolutely ridiculous. If a team is doing things where they should be called, it should be called regardless of how many the other team has gotten. Now, if they'd just not call the majority of it that'd be better, but if they're gonna call the piddly little crap that they call on the Wings, then let obvious s*** go from the Coyotes, something is wrong.
Also, why did Abdelkader get a 10 min game misconduct and Morris did not? I see a lot of things that seems heavily like double standards.

Edit: In no way did the officiating lose us this game, because our defense was absolutely atrocious, and Howard was a again mediocre at best, but it sure seems like rubbing salt in the wound.

And also, I don't get anything out of the fan experience except joy or depression (and the anger, stress, etc. that comes with it). They are millionaires...so that's something nice to fall back on.

The refs clearly threw this game. It couldn't possibly be the Wings losing it for themselves. If the Wings don't go 82-0 during the season and 16-0 in the playoffs, the playoffs is obviously thrown.

Ooh, the West is so strong. Those SJ Sharks looked so strong against the Avs. You're right. Oh, and the Blackhawks are just crushing Knoxville, I mean Nashville. (They have a team in Nashville??). And this Phoenix team of journeymen and crack dealers are pushovers I assume? I mean, the mighty Red Wings are cruising, right? Check yourselves. Any of the teams from the East could beat any of the West in a 7 gamer and vice versa. Its the playoffs. The fact that the Pens and Wings are 4/5 should tell you everything about the NHL and importance of the regular season.
