Our coaching staff is trying to will Husso into being "that guy"...and I just don't see it.  They are going to need to readjust their expectations on him.  Yes, he plays above average at moments, but then has these breakdowns where he gives up really soft goals...like awful goals.  He totally lacks consistency.  Our D and back-checking is a weakness as well...for the life of them they can't seem to cover the trailing guy on rushes/odd man rushes.  I've witnessed this at least 5+ times this season.  Our D has numbers and both our D commit to taking away the cross ice pass to the other forward...and they drop pass to trailing forward that is all alone, not covered, free and clear for a quality shot. Frustrating.  

Is this real?
BTW, you can tell Wings are getting more interesting, we are seeing users we haven't seen in a long time!

I'm OK with that too. It makes our top 6 dangerous and our pp even better.

Well either have arguably the best 2nd line in the league and an OK first line or a very good first and second line

Last night was a reminder of how much I hate the overtime format.  What a joke.  6 guys skating in a circle for 4:30 with :30 seconds of actual hockey being played.  Lame.  Let them load up 5-5 and play hockey for 5 minutes. 

one thing not mentioned here is the Wings have played a lot of games.  3 games in 4 days.  5 of 6 pts aint too bad.

That's a little extreme but I think he's closer to the best players in the world than he is to the next few tiers below that. I said at the beginning of the summer that he's probably a top 12-15 NHL center and I'll stick by that. It's amazing how quickly perceptions of the guy changed the minute he had an actually talented team around him.

Agreed, but there is also a fine line (art form really) of dangling players to the market who look like they may have more potential upside and other teams acquiring them in hopes of getting more than the Wings have out of said player vs. keeping these guys in an attempt to get player improvement and showcasing them...when all you may do is confirm to other GM's that these players aren't very good.  Sell what you can't see vs. Sell what we have....tricky and that's what good GM's are excellent at managing.  I believe in some cases getting something for these guys now is better than continuing to develop or attempt to develop and confirming to other GM's that some of these guys aren't every night NHL'rs.

Agreed.  There were flashes of the Left Wing Lock in the 3rd.  Our breakout and first pass by the D weren't quick or precise enough to get through/behind them most of the night.

I agree we should definitely try to trade him. I just have a gut feeling we won''t. Like you said he's an A-captain and seems to be to Blash what Cleary was to Babcock.
He also has an NTC where he can block 10 teams. Not the end of the world, but considering only about 16-18 teams will be serious contenders for the playoffs come TDL he can block over half of them, and limit us to trading with teams who don't have the cap space to take him even at 50% retained.
And I really think it behooves him to do this. Once he's traded to a deeper team his ice time is going to drop from 18-20 minutes a night to 14-16. Hurting his next contract.

I agree with you.  He's making great progress for a 21 year old.  There is zero reason to compare him to Lucas Raymond and demand that he performs like Raymond.  When Vrana gets back, Zadina will see a lot more room on the ice.  Vrana-Suter-Zadina gonna be a real good 2nd line for us.

A 2w is approx 35-45pt player. Zadina is already scoring at that pace at 21yrs old. Hes a puck hound plays well in all 3 zones. The underlying stats are good the pts will improve. A 1w is 50+pts player. If you dont believe Zadinas pts will improve at all then I guess hes just a solid 2w.

Since the Tigers are...um...not good, it would be awesome to have summer playoffs.

Also heard nhl teams have been asked to provide their stadium availability through July. Summer playoffs sounds good.
