Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted March 24, 2006 Quick trivia question to the LGW faithful: 1 is to Flip as 35 is to _____?
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 Since no one has replied here is the answer: 1 and 35 are the number of starting lineups the coach of the team has utilized. Flip has used 1 and LARRY Brown has used 35(!!) btw Ugly win against the Pacers, but they got it done.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 It's too bad we're not likely to see the Pistons use the same starting lineup all season, unless Sheed can cool his heels for the last 15 or so games.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 Very ugly unwatchable basketball game this evening - the Pistons depress me right now. They're running out of gas and seem to not care too much about blowing the #1 seed - after all the hard work they did the first 2/3 of the season. I'm still hopeful they can turn it around - but now we have to keep hoping for San Antonio to lose - and every time I turn around they're playing some bottom-feeder team...... Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 What the hell is wrong with Detroit's offence these days!? Here's one reason: WAY TOO many threes attempted! (Here are the # of 3's they've made and attempted the last 4 games) 3/17 9/26 6/22 7/
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 They don't play in the post enough, too many three point attempts as you said. I taped plenty of games back in 2003/04, and we always drove the lane, pretty much everyone bar Billups attempted most of their shots in the paint. Now it’s all about outside shots, and we are suffering from this mentality. I know our ppg may be up, but I’m sure we don’t send as much fear to opposition teams as we previously did. Look at the stats, we always get smashed in points in the paint, and out rebounded. I’m a little worried.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 Pistons and Spurs both have 7 home and 4 road games remaining. Detroit is 2 games up on the Spurs, but the Spurs would need to gain 3 games on Detroit and finish with a better record to secure home court advantage throughout the playoffs, because Detroit owns the tiebreaker with a 2-0 series win between the teams. dallas27 7 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 Before someone points out the playing time again: Defending against the charge that he might be burning out his starters, Flip Saunders pointed to league leaders in minutes played and cited the absence of any of the Detroit Pistons from the top 39. Only Chauncey Billups made the top 40, checking in at the very bottom of the list at the time. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?pa...ailydime-060330
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Still worried? At home and down to Milwaukee by 14 points at the half, yeh I'm worried.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Wow are the Pistons attempting to cruise or what? Down by 18 in the 3rd and then all of a sudden they decided they wanted to win the game after all. As I said in the Wings GDT.... let's start the playoffs already!
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Congratulations to Joe Dumars.... The classiest Piston of all is headed to the Hall!

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 Miami's loss today means that a Piston victory tomorrow over Phoenix wraps up the #1 seed. Very glad to see Joe D. in the HoF. Will his plaque say Joe DUUUUUUUUUUUmars? The Pistons have had a lot of great players - Dave Bing, Dave DeBusschere, Isiah, Laimbeer, etc. - but Dumars, with a trophy named for him and all his success as GM, has to be considered the greatest Piston of them all. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 Pistons wrap up #1 seed in the East. Nice win over the Suns, what were they down, 17? On the one hand it's great to know that they're never out of any game no matter what the situation....on the other hand, it'd be nice if they would stop spotting teams such big leads in the first place. I don't usually buy it when there are two MVP candidates whose teams are playing each other and everyone says it's a head-to-head MVP matchup - usually it's guys who play different positions and don't have any effect on each other because they aren't guarding each other. But Nash vs. Chauncey - those guys are guarding each other all game, and when one guy has to foul the other at the end, you've gotta take notice. 35 points for Chauncey against Nash's Suns makes a nice MVP statement. dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 M-V-P M-V-P Yea, I was at the game and we chanted that at least 5 times. What a game that was. Phoenix was making EVERYTHING, it was disgusting. Not to mention the officiating was horrendous as well. Today's game was the loudest I've ever heard that place get, it was crazy.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 And Chauncey's 30 foot 3-pointer was sick. He made it look so damn easy in the process as well.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 M-V-P M-V-P Yea, I was at the game and we chanted that at least 5 times. What a game that was. Phoenix was making EVERYTHING, it was disgusting. Not to mention the officiating was horrendous as well. Today's game was the loudest I've ever heard that place get, it was crazy. Lucky! Glad the Pistons got home in the end after giving them a huge lead. I noticed Sheed got another technical today, does that make 16? If so, who do you think we will we start in his place, Davis or McDyess?
dallas27 7 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 It is his 16th and they are going to review it today I believe. McDyess will be starting.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 I read that Davis will be starting because they don't want to mess with McDyess's rhythm coming off the bench. Pistons have 9 games left. If they go 7-2, they get home court throughout the playoffs no matter what San Antonio does. That will be tough to do (go 7-2) because they face some good teams, but if the Spurs lose any games, the Pistons can do worse than that. Basically, the magic number for the Pistons to get home court advantage is 7.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 San Antonio lost to Sacramento today, which means the task for Detroit to clinch home court becomes a little easier. And what about Antonio McDyess yesterday, 26 points and 14 rebounds. And Tony Delk also scored 15 points. Delk has definately improved our bench.
Cruiser008 37 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 (edited) San Antonio lost to Sacramento today, which means the task for Detroit to clinch home court becomes a little easier. And what about Antonio McDyess yesterday, 26 points and 14 rebounds. And Tony Delk also scored 15 points. Delk has definately improved our bench. Yup. Detroit has pretty much clinched home court throughout the playoffs. All they need to do is go 5-3 the rest of the way should be a piece a cake with these guys. Good thing too because home court is gonna be awfully handy against Miami and then San Antonio (assuming everything plays out according to form). Edit: great win on the road against Miami tonight! Hito 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 wow, another impressive performance by Delk last night. I was happy when we got him, and Im glad he's living up to everything I hoped for. So much for our bench being our achilles heal.
