Tough loss last night in double ot. Not having too much of a problem tonight against the bucks. Darko is starting to progress very well now, he got 2 points and 4-5 blocks within a 3 minute span. Flip actually put him out there with the starters and I agree with Lamb that he benefits from that and they should try to do it more often.......that is of course if we don't get KG tongue.gif

Chauncey Billups is the best point guard in the NBA. He does it all: score at WILL, dish it out, play defense, everything. He's just so freaking good...and he makes it look so damn easy. If Rip and Chauncey aren't in the All-Star game this year there is something wrong. I forgot if it was a coach or a writer but I think they said something along the lines of it would be a crime not to have them in the All-Star game this year. The thing about him as well is that he knows he's that damn good but he's just so casual about it. I love this team so much.

Pistons beat the Nets to avoid becoming the victime of the Nets' 1000th win in franchise history (though the article didn't say whether that counts their time in the ABA).

And Flip still refuses to use the bench....not that the bench played like they deserved to get more minutes. He said in the News that the Pistons might have to sacrifice a few games in the coming months to make sure the bench gets some experience....especially Darko. Didn't see it tonight - guess playing to win each and every game is a hard habit to break.

Have you been watching every game or just this one?

The bench has been playing rather well the past few games, not as many minutes as they probably should be but certaintly A TON more than this game.

Which is exactly what I've noticed in every game the Pistons have a shot at losing. I can't see the games, I don't live in Detroit. But the boxscores don't lie. This game definitely saw the bench play much less than usual, and even the usual isn't as much as it should be. And I'm sure I didn't say they've been playing poorly all season, but they sure fizzled out tonight - 6 whole points. No wonder Flip kept the starters in for 37-plus minutes each.

Yeah, last night was ugly for the bench. Flip started putting them in with the pistons up 12 in the first, and by the half pistons were down. It was painful to watch them brick shot after shot. sitting them last night was probably the right thing, leaving them in there like that would have killed whatever confidence they had left.

Now, I do want to see Darko put up a monster game when the Knicks come calling.

Carlos Arroyo has to stop playing like he thinks he is freaking NBA Star Super-Man and dribble non-stop and take stupid shots. Stick to what you are good at, passing the ball. Not saying he can't take shots but some of his plays none of the other players even touch the ball. Leave the scoring in the point guard area to Mr. Big Shot.

Half time, 59-59.

First game of the season I've seen and I'm not too impressed. Hamilton is on fire, as he has been all season. Billups has 8 assists, he is one of the smartest players in the game. He just knows how to find the open man. Prince looks like a different player, he is extremely impressive. He is a very good rebounder, especially on the offensive end, and he is now very solid on driving to the hoop.

Darko Milicic, well I'm not too impressed. He is not solid enough to defend any large forwards, they breeze past him. He grabbed one offensive rebound, which was good to see, but for the majority of the game he doesn't get into good enough positions to get the boards. He is not confident enough to shoot ball, and he often rushes the passes and causes turnovers.

Let's hope we have a better second half.

Much, much better quarter. We outscored them 24-8. Rip is a monster, he's already scored 30+ points, and Prince does anything he pleases.

The only negative is the lack of influence by Rasheed Wallace. He hasn't done a thing out there. And Carlos Arroyo is hopeless, he can't run the game, he takes out the life in the offense.

I want to see more Darko in the 4th.

I was not impressed by tonight’s performance at all. We had one good quarter, and got outplayed for the other three. Rip was great as was Prince and Ben wasn’t too bad, however I don’t see him blocking any shots or stealing the ball as much as he used to. Billups got lazy in the final quarter, turning the ball over far too often but for the majoirty he was great.

Now I don’t know what the problem is with Rasheed Wallace. I would be tempted to have him coming off the bench him for the next few games, as he is enduring a terrible period right now. He was careless out there, it looked as though he wasn’t even trying. His passing was insipid at best and he only took 3 shots for the entire game. I feel that McDyess is a better option at this stage.

Yeah, that was the worst game I've seen Sheed play ever I think. Definately not characteristic of how he usually performs.

The bench was a lot more solid last night though, and that was good to see.

So any others out there who saw the Pistons game? I would love more feedback because it was the first game I've seen all season and I was disappointed.

I've seen ALL the games and their isn't anything to worry about, believe me. Once the bench gets going consitently no team will beat them in a 7 game series. Hell, even with just 2 people coming off the bench I don't think anyone can beat them in a 7 game series. Look, they are the best conditioned team in the NBA, they have 98 CONSECUTIVE starts with the same starting five. The next closest is 62 or 63...

I agree with Flip when he said the Pistons were trying to make too many perfect plays in front of LB instead of just playing B-Ball. I think they were trying a little bit too hard, lot of careless passes that was the result of trying to be too perfect.

At least we got the win.

Taken from a poster, who really knows what he is talking about, from pistons.com

Alot of this fatigue argument comes from last year's Game 7. I just don't buy that. The Pistons were beat last year by the better team. Lets not forget that San Antonio has a pretty darn good team. That said, the Pistons were really, really close to repeating. Home court advantage may have had a large factor. IMO it did.

Back to the fatigue. Let's take a look at the stats, b/c as you know, the stats don't lie Wink

Starter - MPG last year - MPG this year - Difference

B. Wallace 36.1 35.6 -0.5

R. Wallace 34.0 32.8 -1.2

T. Prince 37.1 38.1 +1.0

R. Hamilton 38.5 35.9 -2.6

C. Billups 35.8 33.6 -2.2

So, of the five starters, only Tayshaun Prince is logging more minutes than he did last year. Hamilton and Billups are down significantly, and the Wallaces have a marginal difference.

Yea, so, Chauncey just made about a 29 footer NOTHING BUT NET.

Anyways, Aussie, too bad you couldn't have seen this game. This is how basketball is supposed to be played, I've heard this from the announcers about 10 times but they are putting on a clinic. It only took them a 15 point deficit to get them going...

Everyone will be happy to know the bench has logged good minutes this game.

How ridiculous is the East? The last-place team in the Central (Chicago) would be leading the Atlantic and be second in the Southeast. I know it's silly to talk about it this early, but the playoff seedings would look like this:

1. Detroit (Cent. Div. leader)

2. Miami (SE Div. leader)

3. Philly (losing record; Atl. Div. leader)

4-7: the rest of the Central

8. losing record
