Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Last Check, he has 8-10 in 20 GP. If he does play well enough this year, does he deserve to be on the Big league roster next season?
Seth 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 ROFL (with Cartman laugh) Kopecky finally plays to the level he was supposed to when the Wings drafted him and you want to put him in the NHL. Honestly, has of lately I've been seeing alot of strange things on this site. But serouisly, where are you guys getting all this awesome weed?

TNBT 3 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 As much as I would love Kopecky to put it all together and prove that he belongs in the NHL, I just wouldn't say he is ready yet. He has 18 points in 22 games. That's not too bad, but it is definatley below what he COULD do if he really tried. However, 18 points after 22 games is a lot better than the 16 and 12 points that he had in the past two seasons, each of which he played 48 games. If he can keep up this sort of pace then he'll be looking at something like 40 points after 48 games. That would be enough to warrant some feelings that he's on the right track, but not enough to warrant giving him a spot on the Wings roster. His coaches should be praising what he's doing, but also encouraging him to keep improving, and if he does that, then MAYBE he'll be Wings-ready in another season or two. Barnes52 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 He's attractive trade bait....
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2005 He's attractive trade bait.... Definitely. And guys like Hudler, Filppula, Bootland, and even Ellis deserve a roster spot far more than Kopecky does. The only reason he's showing any effort this year is because he knows the Wings were going to dump him if he didn't have a solid season.
TNBT 3 Report post Posted December 3, 2005 Definitely. And guys like Hudler, Filppula, Bootland, and even Ellis deserve a roster spot far more than Kopecky does. The only reason he's showing any effort this year is because he knows the Wings were going to dump him if he didn't have a solid season. That was something I was thinking about. This is the first time he's really shown any effort, and it just happens to come at a key season for him. It may be worth it to us to keep him around in Grand Rapids and see if he keeps improving, but he definatley shouldn't be put straight into the Wings lineup until he shows that he can work hard when his ass ISN'T on the line. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 COLD: Center Tomas Kopecky (Grand Rapids, AHL) went from red hot (7-3-9-12) to stone cold (7-1-1-2) in the span of a few weeks What's new?

And over that entire span he managed a point per game. I would take an inconsistent player who could manage a point per game over an entire season over a consistent one who averaged .5 or maybe even .75 points per game, depending on physical and defensive abilities.
