Trade Hudler for Samsonov and have "little russian bastards" line at next season:

Samsonov - Datsyuk - Grigorenko

5'8 - 5'10 - 5'10

180 - 180 - 202 lbs

I'd make that deal in a heartbeat -- Boston wouldn't.

I have my doubts about Grigorenko's speed and conditioning.

That would be a great trade for Detroit. Samsonov lives in Detroit in the off season and regularly skates with a lot of the Wings in the summer. He is a UFA after the season, and would would love to come here and would be a good fit for sure.

He is listed as 5'8", but is closer to 5'9"-5'10"

All of those proposals make sense. I find it really funny though about Joseph getting traded to the Senators however. That would be a Hasek-Joseph all over again. laugh.gif

I also like the Samsonov for Hudler trade. thumbup.gif

ROFLMAOPIMP!

I just popped into this thread to say that I can't believe anyone would even discuss anything SI would say about hockey.

This is the best giggle I've had all day, and I've had a few!

I suggested this very trade proposal a week or two ago (no, I don't have SI connections) and was jumped all over for proposing what would be "the worst trade this organization could ever make" (ahem...Seth).

Funny to now see it now gain some purchase when it's in print in a mag.

I really see this as a win/win trade for both teams. Boston almost certainly will lose Sergei to free agency this summer. Detroit almost certainly have 2 or 3 prospect centers that are at least as capable as Hudler at the NHL level.

Pull the trigger...

He doesnt play defense and his stats are exaggerated because of all the shots he gets on TO's powerplay.

Let the Canes have him as long as they give up some good roster players.

Hmm, if he likes to be here in Detroit why trade him? We can have Samsonov possibly cheap from the FA-market at next summer, if he really wants to come here and likes to be here.

Better use Hudler for something else (physical d-man).

Why trade for him now instead of just signing him this summer? That's your question?

Oh, I don't know...I was thinking that something pretty big happens in the NHL between March and July...am I wrong here?

Hudler can play Wing also.
