I remember when Cory Cross played for Toronto years ago..havent heard anything from him in awhile....this trade doesnt excite me. Is Rivers for Cross any improvement?

Nope, he's not cheaper than Rivers according to the NHLPA website. Rivers make $450K, while Cross makes $875K.

Don't see the point in this trade, I hated this guy when he was on the leafs, I'm not sure how much he's going to play on the Wings. Not a trade I was hoping for.

Cross is big but can't and won't fight. He has very little upside.
"It was pretty interesting," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock. "We had May in exhibition for a couple of games and no one gets hacked or whacked. When we don't have him, we get run. We don't have a team that twists off helmets at stoppages. You get tired of seeing it all the time. It's just nice when you get someone to look after that stuff."

He does make league minimum, $450K. Cross make more than that at $875K.

I couldn't agree more. I don't get why we didn't trade for Salei. He'd be the perfect replacement for Fisch.

Its basically Rivers for Cross. The Wings traded a 4th rounder to get Cross, but then they recieved a pick in the Rivers deal.
Cross is better than Rivers. I am happier with Cross at the 6-7 spot then I would be with Rivers.
I dont think we expected much, and thats exactly what we got. Not much.

People were dreaming if they thought we'd actually get Salei or Witt. It was never going to happen, I'd rather not move high picks and prospects for those players.
