The Next Crosby?

theres prolly 500 kids in the world that can do all that stuff at 13.

there is only one crosby.

plus, did anyone else notice that maybe 2 of 6 shots actually made it in. if he can't beat a 13 year old goalie, so what?

not bashing him, jut saying lets see him in juniors in canada before we go all GREAT ONE on him.

The moves are cool, but at the same time we've all seen the video of Williams pulling that behind the back trick during Wings' practice, obviously it doesn't equate to instant goals in the NHL.

That was the first thing I noticed. Pulling out a few moves doesn't mean Crosby better watch his back.

just for the sake of clarification, he was a 13 year old participating at a high school skills competition so he was actually shooting against a high school goalie

hey just so all of you know, i played in that tournament.. its a highschool tournament up in Maine. all the goalies are around 16 or 17, and everyone else for that matter. my buddy is one of the goalies he got scored on, we have all blue jerseys. anyway, watched the kid play in games and wasnt to impressed, in fact i didnt notice him at all until the skills comp. he must be a freshman in highschool, i was 13 as a freshman.

Any kid can stand there for hours and practice his ballet moves with a stick in his hand, over and over...it doesnt mean it will transfer into a good hockey player - i wouldnt be conviced until i saw him pull that stuff in a game, which he wouldnt be able to do.

Eh, I've seen Jason Williams pull some pretty sweet moves in practice. Doing it in a game situation is 100% different- good moves, but nothing that would ever make me compare him to Sid.

Ok why are we having another thread of this kid... For one THERE WILL NEVER BE A NEXT GRETZ Crosby is Crosby, an amazing player but won't be the NEXT GRETZ

I completely disagree. Crosby may end up scoring as much as Gretzky, he may not, but to think that no one will ever break Gretzky's records is naive. It took decades for someone to break the home run record for baseball (of which only 1 of the 3 that did it was clean), but still it was broken. Someday, someone will break Gretzky's record, its just a matter of time.
