Nikolai Zherdev on the Trade Block

Same thing I was thinking. Link?

MacLean has had some issues with him. As has Hitchcock since he arrived. Zherdev apparently isn't the easiest player to get through to, but his skills (when he's on) are undeniable.

If he had a good attitude and a head on his shoulders, maybe. He'd have to grow up a lot and realize that he's playing a team game (sans Crosby).

I don't like him, I'd rather have a player that contributes to the hard-working atmosphere. I can't comment on his physical play, because (depite living in Ohio) I haven't seen more than 10 games this year. But I haven't seen anything of the sort and he has no reputation for agressive play.

Pass, we do not need this dude.

Amen. Yay for players - WHATEVER NATIONALITY - that need a kick in the pants to get going and screw their teams over when signing.

This guy is the LAST thing we need.

Its amazing how people complain about how the Red Wings lack heart, and then say we need to trade for a guy like this. Oy.

Here's the latest on Zherdev (from TSN)

And a minus to Nik Zherdev, who is now officially in Ken Hitchcock's doghouse. He's only had one goal in the last three months. Not good for a guy whose only real job is to score goals. Hitchock is so ticked off at his lack of work ethic, he actually kicked Zherdev off the ice during Monday's practice. "You can teach competitiveness, it's a learned skill,'' said Hitchock. ''And I know how to teach it."

Yeah I seen that earlier. With that I would say pass for right now. If next year he seems to get his scoring touch back but is still having problems with Hitchock then I say tade a pick for him.
