“The greater difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it. Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempests.â€Â

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.â€Â

And here's one for people who think inspirational quotes are dumb:

"I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on." --Jack Handy

It's ok. I don't want the pressure of the #1 team overall and/or Central Division winner in the playoffs again. Let Nashville have it.

i agree. when you put it that way a lose doesnt seem that bad

3 games in 4 days I think they were just tired. They came out pretty flat.

I'm sure that's what it was. You figure in 4 days, the Wings had to be in Manhattan, Detroit, and St. Louis, and play 3 games. That's tough!

Maybe we could finish farther down the list and get some actual freaking draftpicks?!?!

Well, look at it this way. If anyone says we don't need a scorer, they can't use the excuse of "We have no problem scoring, we haven't been shutout in 175 games..."

did Cheli get credit for the chip in on the lone goal?

j/k it was an accident, but what a shame... sorry Joey, I feel really bad for him. Except he can skate off the ice knowing there was nothing else he could have done better.

one more thing before i leave.. question for all of you.. Who would you rather play in the first round... The ducks, or sharks... or the wild or nucks.. Don't forget the nucks aren't really a great scoring team, but they have the best goalie in the nhl

Can't we not start this s*** again of the Wings sucking or feeling ashamed? The Wings have won 5 straight and we all knew it'd be hard getting back to back wins. Luck just wasn't on their side tonight..at all. and let's be real. The Blues outplayed the Wings for the majority of the game, and JOEY kept the Wings in it big time. Saying we lost to the Blues of all teams is pretty pathetic to say. Any team can win or lose against ANY team on any given night. Standings don't mean crap because in sports anything happens.

Anywho, Joey was FANTASTIC tonight. what a sweetie he is. They are interviewing him and he's still so upbeat, and humble about everything. Awwww I love Joey.

I don't know why you all insist the Blues suck. If Andy Murray had been their coach at the start of the year they'd be occupying a low playoff seed right about now instead of being a bottom-feeder.

o.k. it isn't that they suck so much, it is just we are much much better than them.

if we don't take first in the division the best we'll finish is 4th and that being so there's a good chance we'll end up playing sj. unfortunatley we are even worse against the sharks than we are against the blues. so i hope we win the division.

Honestly, who cares about the shutout streak. Its just incredibly sick the way this thing panned out. Nothing went the Wings way. Joey looked more like Hasek out there and the lone goal scored was by Chelios..on Joey.

You're joking, shutout by the freaking Blues.

There goes the streak. <_< Ah well on the positive side we won't be so nervous if we're without a goal from now on.

True, I've been more nervous about the stupid streak than winning or losing. I'm really surprised that they've gone on this long, given their propensity to not play a full 60 minutes.

But this streak ending has as much to do with the schedule makers as anything.

Someone mentioned Joey never winning an NHL game. Well as long as he's only used as a sacrificial lamb - only playing the second game of back-to-backs, his chances of winning are slim indeed.
