Well, I'm all for it if Forsberg has indeed found the skate that will cure jim of what ails his misshapen foot. I'm guessing Hudler, a high pick and some other asset is what lands us Foppa. Zetterberg and Forsberg on the same team: That would be an awesome thing to behold.

Well, gee, whoopety-doo! A miracle skate! All is well!

No, sorry, I'm sure Floppa would have gone with this incredible skate some 10 years ago if it indeed existed.

Throwing away Hudler for a rental player? Two words: F*** THAT!

Zetterberg, Holmstrom and Datsyuk have a too-good dynamic right now. They won't be separated. Zetterberg and Forsberg would only see time together on the PP or in desperate situations.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wings deal for Forsberg then trade Lang for a pick to re-gain the pick that they'd likely lose and the cap space, then flip someone for a winger. It really seems like Lang isn't happy playing here anymore. Supposedly Atlanta is interested in him.

Edit: I'd be surprised as that's not how it will go down but I could see something similar happening.

Edit 2: Ha, I just finished reading the article and Kahn went ahead and mentioned what I just said.

If he doesn't go to team sweden aka detroit, then the next likely bet is vancouver to play with his boy naslund, and then third likely scenerio would be for him to stay in philly and re-sign for next year. Any other trade would shock me.

Dats-Zetta-Homer dont F*** with that line! thats why I dont want forsberg...

Yeah, Khan says in the article something about the Rangers. He's been having a helluva time lately and doesn't seem very motivated; I still like his ability to crank it up in the postseason, but we can make a lot of room by moving him. Obviously is depends on the return as to whether or not I'd be on board (for as much as that counts).

Vancouver doesn't have the space to deal for him I dont think. Anyway, you don't need to screw around with the Zetterberg line if we get Forsberg. That's almost the point. It'd take a lot of weight off their shoulders for the playoffs to know that Forsberg is on the second line and powerplay.

Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Cleary-Forsberg-Samuelsson

Forsberg would do wonders for Cleary and Samuelsson.

You'd rather go into the playoffs with Hudler than Forsberg? That's pretty whack.

Really? You wouldn't trade Hudler and a pick for someone of Forsberg's calibre? And who says he'd be a renter? There have been reports the Wings would be interested in signing him to an extension if they acquired him -- and seeing as Detroit is apparently only one of three teams he'd be willing to waive his no-trade for, it's a good bet he'd re-up with them. Look, we all know Forsberg isn't the same player he was in the Wings-Avs heyday, but he's still an excellent player and, more importantly, a force in the playoffs -- something this team sorely needs. He's a true post-season gamebreaker. Sure, it'd be a risk to deal for him, given his recent mdeical troubles, but at this point it's better to roll the dice than sit back and do nothing or add a softie like Nagy (I don't think guys like Doan, Smyth or Bertuzzi are going anywhere). If I'm going to go to war against a San Jose or Anaheim in the first round, I'd like to have a guy like Forsberg on my team. And if it doesn't work out, don't re-sign the guy -- go after one of the marquee free agents in the off-season.

I agree. I like Lang a lot but if we land Forsberg I think he should and would be dealt.

Getting Forsberg would be just about the weirdest thing I can think of. In fact I don't think there's a single player in the league that would look stranger in a Wings jersey. Who would have thunk it, round about, oh, say 2001? But I'd welcome the move. No matter what your thoughts about Forsberg, he'd undeniably improve the team.

And why stop at Forsberg? I think if the Wings pull this off, they will indeed dump Lang and his chunky salary somewhere and pick up another 'top-6' forward, probably a winger to play on the second line (Bill Guerin, maybe? Gary Roberts?) Anyway, if this is the direction Holland's heading, then he's got more stones than I gave him credit for.

If Forsberg is playing line 2 then Lang must be moved. You'd have Zetta-Foresberg-Draper-Lang(on 4th line?), no room for lang trade him for a winger.

I'm tired of people saying Forsberg's style wouldn't help the Wings. The more I think about it the more I'm loving the idea of Forsberg on the team. Plugging him in on the second line with Samuelsson would turn Samuelsson's unscreened wristers from the blue line into legit scoring chances from the circle. This is how Forsberg helps the Wings. He would improve the players around him 100% -- something that a team with guys like Williams, Samuelsson, and Cleary in the top six desperately needs. That's not a knock on Cleary, I just don't think hes a true top six winger.

No kidding. Look at Milan Hejduk: he's basically Samuelsson now that Forsberg is gone. With him he won the Richard. The guy's a playoff beast; only twice in his postseason career has he failed to be at least PPG--both times he missed the mark by a single point.

He would be absolutely huge for the Wings.

Hey everyone, this is great news to hear if this is true, I have a feeling something might go down tomorrow, with this Forsberg situation. Apparently their were scouts at today's game against Calgary. Scouts from Philly were in attendance and our scouts will be in Philly tomorrow night. So maybe a trade will go down tomorrow night. Hope I am right. And giving up Lang, oh darn did anyone watch the game, after he scored he didnt look to thrilled and he looks bored out there. See if Bert is healthy and if thats the case try to land him. Forsberg and Bert going into the playoffs. SCARY.

If Holland adds Forsberg and an 'in your face' third or fourth liner like Drake I think we'd have a very complete team on our hands. Kopecky's return will be big too. I really liked his physical presence when he was healthy.

There's an interesting tidbit in that article posted, too...

What the Wings relinquish for him would depend on whether they can sign him to a contract extension, either before or after a trade. Any deal is sure to include a high draft pick (first or second round), which might be contingent on the team's ability to re-sign Forsberg, and a decent prospect.

Sounds like what Kenny has to give would depend on what they think they'll get out of Floppa. If he's truly only a renter, he's not going to give away the farm.

And BTW, I'm calling it now. If this deal happens, the first time that Forsberg & Filppula play on the same line, it will be dubbed the "Flip-Flop" line.

I want the Wings to get Forsberg just so he doesnt go to Nashville!! Havent you guys heard the rumors??? Nashvilles hot on his trail too!!

At any rate, landing Forsberg and then trading Lang to Atlanta sounds freaking awesome. Hope plausible it is, I have no idea. If the Wings trade Hudler and end up signing Forsberg to replace Datsyuk in the offseason, I wouldnt cry about. Especially if getting Forsberg rids us of Lang and gives us the cap space to bring in Roberts, Gelinas, Fedoruk maybe along with Forsberg??

That's awesome, lol.

I think the teams competing with Detroit for Forsberg will be Anaheim and Nashville, both of which we could be beaten by in a bidding war. The Ducks have Bobby Ryan and Nashville has a ton of defense prospects.

Nice! The third guy is going to be like, um hello what about me?

Suddenly I'm not so opposed to seeing the Fairy behind the winged wheel.
