Forsberg AND Bertuzzi ???

I don't think that's even possible, cap-wise ....

I was abouto ask the same thing. On page 1, line combo's were shown with those two. W/ sum bonuses pushed to next season, (apparently Lang out of the picture) and maybe one other trade, could we afford to have those two?

Imagine...

Hudler+Meech+ 1st rounder = Forsberg (with a contract for next year included)

Lang= 1st pick+prospect from NYR

Williams+Lilja+NYR prospect+ NYR 1st= Nathan Horton

Thats how my dream went anyway...

Trading Hudler isn't a good Idea in my opinion. He has shown signs of being a good scorer this season and I would rather re-sign Datsyuk than Forsberg over the offseason and you know it wouldn't be both. I know it'll be hard to get Datsyuk into a proper $$$ range but I would rather try to get him back than to trade for, then re-sign FOrsberg because Forsberg is old with injury problems and Datsyuk has been great this year, and if on a line with Hank in the playoffs he may even perform.

I think that I would rather trade Williams than Hudler. Because Williams for a possible renty wouldn't have any sort of sorrow for me and I would be sad to see Hudler go.

Edit: In no way am I saying I don't want Forsberg. i think he would be great for the team IF healthy. BUT I think Hudler has too much potential to trade away, and I would rather re-sign Datsyuk for 6 million than Forsberg for 5 million

Long-term, Hudler has great potential.

He's got SOME potential yes but he definitely won't become a Forsberg-calibre player. Foppa has exceptional talent that doesn't come around too often, he's still one of the best players around.

You'd rather go into the playoffs with Hudler than Forsberg? That's pretty whack.

:clap::scared::lol:

...besides, Hudler is this teams Stacy Roest. He'll never be here for the long haul, and when he gets traded he'll fall off the radar like much of the Wings "hot" European prospects. Who is that we traded to get Lang? How is he doing? How about the guy we traded to get Chelios? Or the other one that landed us Schneider? Yeah, I think trading Hudler while he has "potential" is ideal. His only pontential is that he plays here in Detroit and would get his name on a cup by association, not by contributing much. Trade him, package him, do whatever, but just do it while people see his "potential," do it before he is exposed...

Word on the XM is that Anaheim offered two 1st round picks and a "significant player" .........Thats too much for an injury riddled guy who is going to retire soon.

I wouldn't believe that report for one second.... Anaheim cannot be that idiotic, plus we're going to get him anyway... haha. The power of the Swedes is tooooo tempting for Foppa.

Wow. However, I don't believe it. If that was the offer I think Forsberg would be getting sized for his Ducks jersey already.

Sounds more like Holmgren leaking juicy morsels to the media in an attempt to drum up a market.

Although, now that I think about it, the Wings pulled off a similar deal in 1999 for Chelios. A pair of firsts and what was thought to be a decent defensive prospect in Anders Eriksson. Anaheim would be picking right around where Detroit would've at the time.

Of course, that deal was contingent on Chelios signing a contract extension, too. Which makes you wonder about the "rumored" Anaheim offer. Same contingencies?

Sure we'd all love to see Forsberg on the team if only because of his talent, but handing Hudler away seems so damn stupid. Huddles is arguably the best prospect the Wings have and in the end they don't have the luxury of assuming another great prospect will turn up in the draft since the Wings usually get a pick once everyone else has had 4 or 5 :P

Forsberg has how many years left in his tank? 2 or 3? Huddles has, what, 12 or 13?!? Is Huddles of equal talent to Forsberg? I doubt anyone would say yes, but I'm not ready to say a definite no for one reason: he's never had the chance to show what he's really got. Now add to that the fact that, on average, Wings picks take a little while to heat up (Feds excluded :P ) and I honestly think 3 or 4 years from now a trade of Huds for a rental would feel incredibly dumb.

But then again, I'm far from a NHL scout :P I doubt I could scout for a peewee team :lol:

Please, please, please, PLEASE don't trade Huds, F-diggity-fresh or Dats Ken! Fip is obviously rooted here for a while, but it's scary to imagine Huds or Dats in a different uniform. Although in the end I do think Dats will have trouble getting anything near what he wants in terms of cash from Detroit compared to all those crappy teams with huge wallets out there.

I'd hand Hudler away in a heartbeat if it means winning a Cup though. Forsberg would greatly help the Wings there. The guy is a playoff monster.

Oh yes I would hand Hudler over in a new york minute if we increase our chances of winning the cup.

Too bad you have to give up something to gain something, especially if you want to improve an already solid team like ours.

At least Hudler has some trade value unlike some other guys that Wings might be willing to part with, e.g. Williams, Lilja, Maltby...

But maybe this would be a good time to trade Willy, his trade value went up a little bit last night... :lol:

Fixed it with Hudler's new nickname ;) it's been decreed that no grown man should ever be called Huddles except perhaps by his wife/girlfriend.

The same could have been said about Zetterberg and Datsyuk, had we not taken a chance on them.

If that's true we can't compete. But, I dont think it is because Anaheim has traded a lot of high picks lately.

Yeah, considering what Anaheim already gave up for Pronger - 1st round selection in 2007, a conditional 1st round selection and a 2nd round selection in 2008 - they might not be in much of a position to offer high picks for Forsberg.

Not to mention other picks Burke has just carelessly thrown around, like a second rounder for Parros.

Just a question - Can you trade a conditional pick? Obviously it would be stupid for the team receiving it but has it ever happened? I think the conditional pick in the Pronger deal is contingent on Anaheim going to the finals.
