tubaguy 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 Does anyone have a slingbox? I am going to be out of town with no access to anything but a high-speed internet connection and would be eternally grateful if a good Samaritan would be willing to share their Wings broadcast with me via slingbox. Thanks in advance!

wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 Sorry if I had one I'd share. It would be nice but I don't travel enough to warrant the $140 cost.

Zeke 5 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 Is that kind of like a slingshot? They claim this device allows you to watch TV through the internet or cell phone, without incurring any monthly fees or costs, but I'm unsure as to how well it works. I'd suggest to talk to a rep in an electronics store.
wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 For those of you who don't know, a slingbox lets you watch anything from your television over a high speed internet connection. Jim Rome promotes these things like crazy.
Guest redwingrob Report post Posted February 19, 2007 I have one, and MIGHT be able to give access to one person for a game or two. I travel a lot so it is usually used by me. Also, remember a slingbox is not magic so if two or three of you try to watch it through a single cable line, you will probably each get close to nothing. So message me individually and tell me what dates you need it and I will give you temporary login information if it is available that day... I can Guarantee that the first couple weeks of March it wont be available as I will be using it while I am out of town.... Rob

Thanks in advance! I would let you, but the problem is slingbox allows 1 user at a time to view it, and I use my slingbox to watch all the games since i live in a dorm room (with no digital cable). BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 For those of you who have a slingbox or are knowledgable about it, I have a question. I live in Texas, which makes it hard to watch the Wings, Tigers, Spartans, etc. My parents still live in Michigan though. If I bought a Slingbox and hooked it up at their house, I'd be able to watch the games down here, right?
Cincywingnut 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 (edited) For those of you who have a slingbox or are knowledgable about it, I have a question. I live in Texas, which makes it hard to watch the Wings, Tigers, Spartans, etc. My parents still live in Michigan though. If I bought a Slingbox and hooked it up at their house, I'd be able to watch the games down here, right? That will work, yes. But it is technically against the terms of the Slingbox licensing agreement. It's considered "stealing" a cable or satellite signal. Still, I don't think it can be prevented. Guest coloradowing Report post Posted February 20, 2007 I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first post. Go figure it would be about a Slingbox. First off I love the Slingbox. It works great on my end wether at home or at work (shhh, don't tell the boss)I have a DirecTV DVR dedicated for my Slingbox (not connected to an actual TV). Being out here in Colorado, the Wing games start before I get off work, so I at least can set up the DVR to record the game, then maybe catch half of the first period prior to heading home. Key elements: High speed access at home with a good upstream (I have about 1MB up) High speed access at your remote location. Setup was pretty easy. I have the SlingLink module (allows data networking via your electrical outlets) because my Slingbox was originally not located near an ethernet connection. Quality was acceptable, but you get better results if you can connect directly to your hub our router. I haven't tried Singing the upstream via wireless but downstreaming to my laptop to watch a game via wireless is great. Don't expect HD crystal clear images but certainly I don't cry about the results. You will likely find different feedback from other Slingers, but for me, it's been fantastic. Go Wings!
