Barrie 900 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 I don't understand this logic. So the team that plays the Wings will not want to win a playoff series against them, because the Wings are a #4 seed and not #1? Do you think that SJ or Dallas or whoever will end up at #5 will underestimate the Wings? Whichever way the tight division race b/w the Wings and the Predators ends, both teams will have approached the playoffs having to play hard and overcome adversity. Neither would be able to coast the last couple of weeks, like the Wings used to do. I think this coasting, rather than the #1 seed in itself, was the contributing factor in the early playoff exits in the past. 1st seed may have to face Calgary. I'd rather play Dallas or SJ. ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Quality response. dude, when i'm in frustration mode, i have no argument. only anger......But i don't believe this is a "huge" point for us.....it wasn;t a miraculous come from behind one point. it was a game where we should have won, and not accepted the one point. i'm getting sick and tired of putting all the pressure on the first line to score. We need to at least get some scoring CHANCES from the other lines, they are generating NOTHING. something needs to be done.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 25, 2007 you're high. we should have had this one Way to think in a solidly black and white manner. I hope that works out for you--until then, I suggest that you start rooting for the Bruins or another team of that mold. Maybe a couple weeks dealing with that will ground you a bit. I don't understand the urgency or catastrophic air surrounding this loss. datsyukismyfriend--That's a bit of a jump to conclusion, and an utterly unnecessary one at that. datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Minor upper body injury , I hope its not too serious i bet it's his ribs. he took a stick to the ribs last night ( i think in the 3rd) and was clearly hurt and doubled over afterwards.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 25, 2007 (edited) this is for you Blue Yeah, I second that. Shanahanman-- you say something must be done. Such as? There are indeed times when NOTHING can realistically be done. Holland, the coaching staff, and the players are not supermen. But the schedule is designed so that not all games are equal. The Wings just played the 2nd half of a back to back, 3rd in 4 nights, and were on the road. The Preds were sitting at home waiting. So, in the big scheme of things, this is not a bad loss.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 "Minor upper body injury , I hope its not too serious" Me too! I wonder if it was from the third period in yesterday's game when he went heavily into the boards That or when he was jabbed in the ribs by a stick , I dont think he'll be out for tuesdays game , hopefully hes ready to go
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 1st seed may have to face Calgary. I'd rather play Dallas or SJ. we haven't exactly fared too well against sj this year. they may be too big and fast for us. i definitely don't want to face them, especially in the first round. it's absolute nonsense not trying to win our division. the wings will try to win the division. Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 25, 2007 That or when he was jabbed in the ribs by a stick , I dont think he'll be out for tuesdays game , hopefully hes ready to go I imagine he has some slightly bruised ribs. It is a credit to Cleary that he got up and attempted a deflection on Lidstrom's shot anyway. I wish he could have had that goal. He is SUCH a hard worker. At the same time, I feel Lang's utter laziness is a near-deadly insult in the face of such courage and resilience. Cleary has been downtrodden in having had to play alongside Lang during Lang's slump. we haven't exactly fared too well against sj this year. they may be too big and fast for us. i definitely don't want to face them, especially in the first round. it's absolute nonsense not trying to win our division. the wings will try to win the division. Well, let's look at this logically: we're one of the best teams in the league, so if San Jose is too big and too fast for us then they'll be too big and too fast for almost everyone in the western conference, so if we advance without playing them then we'll probably hit them in the 2nd or 3rd round. Why worry?

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 whatever. i think i just need a drink and some sleep and i'll feel better about our "one point" in the morning. i just really feel like this was our game to win. the fact that was loss........just doesn't feel right. Calgary has Kipper, and are built for the playoffs. No thanks I'm not saying the Wings are going to lose on purpose. Yeah try for the Division, but after the last two playoffs, I won't be upset at all if we finish 4th.

Why worry? no, cuz we're a very small, and a relatively slow team. san jose's style of play fares against us very well. other teams match up better against them. not that we're not a good team. we definitely are. obvioulsy at this point we're one of the best. but i don't like our chances against the sharks. not that they're necessarily that much better than us, if at all, it's that they match up against us very well. Lang being in his slump ticks me off , Put Cleary with Zetterberg or Datysuk and I bet he gets another 20 goals
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Is there anyone out there who thinks the Wings didn't play a good game? Let's not worry about individual players for a moment--as a whole, pretty good game by the red and white, no?

Agreed. They did play a great game, especially considering the "bang-bang-bang" schedule of the past four days. And I am sure Cleary having williams as his other linemate doesn't help either. I couldn't agree more, though I have a bit more understanding for Williams. Clearly, his concussion took a considerable toll on him. He appears to have lost a lot of coordination; head injuries can do such things. Poor guy. Lang, of course, I simply find irresponsible and lazy. No excuse. sWINGED 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 i'm perplexed by lang. perplexed why babcock doesn't kill him, that is. babcock is such a hard ass and cracks the whip...yet he looks the other way as that lazy, soft, a.d.d. player lollygags around the ice and cherry picks. disgraceful. datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 the thing about williams is that he's not expected to be a force. lang is. not to excuse william's play, it sucks but lang is falling even shorter of his expectations and pulling even less weight i'm afraid.
