rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 wow CBJ got ripped off with that With Modin you're paying for more than the 15 goals and 15 assists he's produced this season.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 it's 3.25 for those 3 years, right? Freddie Modin is big. I'd love to have him with Wings at this price

Mila 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 3.25 per season. Too expensive. I would pay him $2-2.5M/year max.
Vancouver Wings Fan 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 Now this would have been a decent pick up.....if he was truely availible.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 I was hoping the Wings could of landed him via a trade for the playoffs as he played in Sweden with Hank during the lock out.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 3.25 per season. this changes a lot. Modin is good but not this good. that's huge money for him
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 this changes a lot. Modin is good but not this good. that's huge money for him Jackets are a young team and it seems there are issues get motivation out of players... Modin has no problem when he was playing in Tampa. What are we paying Lang again and how many points does he have? I think Modin is A LOT better than Lang.

What are we paying Lang again and how many points does he have? I think Modin is A LOT better than Lang. nope. Lang was league top scorer when Wings acquired him, and was among league highest scorers for a long time in his career. he has skills and the frame, and this kind of players is usually well paid. Modin has different skills. sure, his leadership and smooth-attitude(?) deffinitely contribute to his value. but he's not at the level of >3M$. that's about what Ryan Smyth, Cheechoo, Afinogenov, Madden are making. Lang is not working up to his contract now, so I see your point. but I'll keep my judgement until after playoffs. he was brought here to be a factor in playoffs and if he delivers in April I'm perfectly fine with his contract. Airborn 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 I live in Columbus, so I watch a lot of Blue Jacket games, and while "on paper" it looks like Modin is not worth this much, I can tell you he probably is. He kills penalties, plays on the power play, he's good in the corners, and he can be surprisingly physical. He would have a lot better stats on a different team. I don't think he would have had that much of a problem getting this deal on the open market, and I was surprised more teams weren't looking at him for a rental (maybe they knew Columbus was going to re-sign him). GuloGulo 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2007 well Columbus did get him to put up better stats than the guys before him, so I don't really buy the "on a better team" argument. He was brought in to be as good as in Tampa, and produce similarily. They need him more than we do, I suppose.

His last 2 years in Tampa he average 30 goals and around 60 points.

Lang = Bust big time...... Simple as that, Modin is more of an all around player which we could use. Plain and simple....
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted February 27, 2007 I think Modin got a generous deal to say the least. The guy has sucked eggs in Columbus.
