theman19 47 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Brad Isbister, who has for some reason been in the minors this year, would actually be someone I wouldn't mind having here. He can drop the gloves, and could replace Maltby if we don't bring him back. He has shown offensive touch before too, reaching the 20 goal mark a few times. if isbister can't make the canes with there injury ravaged team i don't think he'd do it here
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 like i said before id like kindl to take schneiders spot , if we have to go for someone , my pick would be brad stuart if he doesnt go back to the flames , he has a bad year overall cause he was with the bruins so his asking price can be reasonable ....he's 28 6'2 220pds , hes a fast skater can play somewhat offensivly can put up 30-40 pts a season, my other pick is cory sarich .....no way i see phillips leaving ottawa as for forwards ....if datsyuk leaves i say we go after smyth if that doesnt work out id love chris drury, hes fast and hes a playoff killer, he comes to play in the post season , after those 2 i like michael handzus ......thats about it Kindl is nowhere near ready to take Schneider's spot. Kronwall is the logical choice within the organization for that. If you don't think Kronwall is ready, and you want to dump Mathieu, you are advocating signing a free agent to take his place. Kindl taking Schneider's place in any way other than roster spot is not going to happen. Kindl is not even close to as good now as Kronwall was in 04-05. One has to assume Kronwall is still in that ballpark, meaning he is still far better than Jakub.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 we've got a very old defensive core. Lidstrom is past his peak, it's becoming evident, Schneider been poor this year and Chelios is 45 friggin years old. Markov's no spring chicken either. Lebda will never be a top 4 NHL defenseman and Kronwalls been inconsistent. We need to start seeing if Ericsson, Quincy, Meech, Kindl etc are going to make it, or we'll find our selves up s*** creek with out a paddle very soon. i know he's in the OHL which is "junior" hockey, but everyone in KItchener see's his potential. He's a leader for that team and the OHL is a damn good league no matter if it's junior hockey or not. I just want to see them get a chance and signing past-it veterans isn't helping. Lindstrom past his peak? Are you serious? Why then is there talk about his 5th Norris?
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Lindstrom past his peak? Are you serious? Why then is there talk about his 5th Norris? Because Lidstrom's peak was so high, he'll win two or three more Norrises at a level well below it?
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) if isbister can't make the canes with there injury ravaged team i don't think he'd do it here No, but he did make the Rangers who are a better team anyways, and is on their roster now. This goes to saying that Carolina, in my opinion, is stupid for not giving Isbister a chance. He does float sometimes, but he is a decent player, and if he came for cheap, would be a good replacement for someone like Maltby if the Wings don't bring him back or he retires. superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Hannan plays a much different role and a less redundant one. He's a defensive defenseman. Schneider sucked last year in the playoffs but put up good numbers. You have to look at more than the stat sheet. Schneider plays point on the first PP unit. One of the biggest reasons behind dumping Schneider would be getting Kronwall more PP time and developing into a top defenseman. Lidstrom and Kronwall would run the first unit. Markov is capable of playing point on the PP. Him and Lebda or Kindl could do it. Hannan is a UFA after this season. Where do you get the idea he'd sign for $2.5-2.7 million? He's going to want more than he's making now and he'll get it. That's my guess at least. Our PP is average this season. I'd rather take a hit on the PP (or maybe not) by putting Kronwall on the first unit and acquiring a defenseman whose game is more suited for the playoffs. I do not have the idea. It is a figure that we could bring him back for. As you said, he will want more and that is the reason that we are going to lose him.
Rice 42 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Lindstrom past his peak? Are you serious? Why then is there talk about his 5th Norris? Yes, Lidstrom is past is peak -- and he's still better than every defenseman in the league. I don't know about Lindstrom though.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Lindstrom past his peak? Are you serious? Why then is there talk about his 5th Norris? Do you mean Lidstrom? Otherwise, you are referring to the player on Columbus.
Never_Retire_Steve 35 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 I'd love to see Schneider stay, minus all the contract stuff
