HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 I love how everyone loves having Bert on the team now!! Year ago, if you wanted here, you got blasted!! haha. I would be scared to play Calgary if we had anyone other than Hasek in net. Now I am not. Plus, I have a good feeling this year. Bring em on!! Red Shows RAGE!!! Red shows power! Guest Agalloch Report post Posted April 8, 2007 The Draper commercial doesn't really work, since the Flames wear red too. I realize the Wings have RED in their name, but still.
Guest Tunbo Batman Report post Posted April 8, 2007 being eliminated after 6 wins idnt that much of an "early exit" lol. if you lose in the third round, is it still an early exit?
stevie for president 42 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Whether they win or lose, you cant deny this will be a hard hitting series where you have to work for every inch. As much as i didnt want the wings to play the flames, im excited because i think this will be the best series (i enjoy the hitting and great goaltending more than the fast skating 6-4 games). puckbags 863 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 To quote an old cliche..I think this series is all about the little things..the intangibles...we are a better team on paper but that doesn't mean s***. If we do the simple things better than the Flames we win this series.
Zetterberg40rule 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 This will be a good series for both teams. The Wings getting by the Flames will serve as a good tune up for the rest of the postseason. With Zetterberg coming back and Datsyuk's steady defensive improvement, our top line can shut down the Flames top line and be dangerous offensively at the same time. This time around, though, Calgary actually CAN score with more than just their top line, so Babs and the crew will have to monitor that. When both goalies are on their game, Kipper and Dom is a wash in the series. GO WINGS!
Viperar 16 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 damn...Iginla is listed as one of the top 5 thrivers in the playoffs... He is listed at 35 playoff games played with 19 goals and a .543 record of Goal/game we need to shut this guy down
Salviaman 104 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 (edited) Holmstrom and Bertuzzi will dominate Kipper. Calder will get his gritty goals. Lidstrom will be Lidstrom. Hasek will be the Dominator. Red Wings take it in 6. Revenge is a dish best served cold. BRING ON THE PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and I almost forgot, Datsyuk will live up to his contract... trust me he will be a beast in the playoffs. Edited April 8, 2007 by Salviaman

rwfan007 18 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 This year we have the players who will shove back. We are 100% more gritty/physical/ballsier (your choice) than the last few years, and this will pay dividends in a 7 game series. I dunno how I will be able to focus in class this week. lidstromsnumba1 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 i for one, want this. i want revenge. i want to beat them on their own ice. i want the entire city to feel the disappointment we did when we lost. so bring it on. no more soft cujo. no more derian hatcher. no more injuries. now we've got bert. we've got hank, homer and dats. and the dominator. so i say, bring it on. a red mile isn't big enough to hold a red wing nation. i think cujo played brilliant in Calgary last time i blame hatcher he is stupid GO WINGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssss

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Last year, when Edmonton clinched the 8 seed, I remember thinking, "Whew! Finally, a first round playoff matchup that favors the Red Wings!" Like a lot of other people, I expected the Wings to face a team that liked to play run and gun hockey and wouldn't just clog up the neutral zone with the trap. Then the series started, and it was clear that Edmonton was going to reinvent itself completely. They played completely out of character and basically clogged up the neutral zone and slowed the game down. They figured it was their best and only chance to compete with a high flying team, and they figured right. I don't think the Flames have the same kind of trickery up their sleeves, necessarily. They'll still try to be physical and use their forecheck to punish the Red Wings' puck possession style. But I do think they're capable of playing a lot better than they've played during the regular season. Everyone's saying they're not as physical and Kiprusoff isn't as invincible. I'm not so sure. They're an experienced playoff team now and they understand that you don't win the Cup during the regular season. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Flames tighten things up, escalate the hitting and physical play, and get superlative goaltending from Kiprusoff in this series. I think the Red Wings are much better equipped for a series with this kind of team than they were last year. And I think the Flames are a different team than they were in 2004. But I also expect Calgary to be a brutal team to face, regardless of how inconsistent they were during the regular season. And don't be fooled by that bad road record. That's not going to be a problem in the playoffs for them. Bottom line, this is going to be a very, very tough opponent. This series could go either way. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Iginla's never been s*** against the Wings. Very consistently shut down. It's everyone else that wreaks havoc. Yep. Drapes and Malts do a GREAT job of shuttig him down. As does Lids back on the blue line.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Well, that's the problem with stopping a guy like Iginla. You put your best defenders on him and it frees up others.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Well, that's the problem with stopping a guy like Iginla. You put your best defenders on him and it frees up others. Which is true, but the great players usually perform anyhow. Why do you think Pavel catches so much s***? Whether or not he frees up guys like Lang, he still has to score. Which isn't exactly the same for Iginla, who scores like crazy against everyone else. Wings have his number, is all. Not including the other ways he contributes, like hitting, leading, and fighting, anyways.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 exactly That's right!! I can tell how bad you want the Wings to pummel the Flames. Believe me..I feel the same way!! I had a bad feeling about the series in '04 and I gotta say I feel the exact opposite this time around. GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!
