Burninator 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 If I was the Sharks I wouldn't want to play the Ducks either. But if I were you guys I wouldn't brush off the Sharks. They have been playing red hot recently. Which ever team you play against should be a good series. But I think you will have a much easier time with Dallas than San Jose. Whichever teams comes out of the Van/Dallas series I don't think will make it past the second round. Neither seems that strong and Van seems like they are running out of gas. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 After the way the Sharks pretty much *****-slapped the Red Wings around the ice during the regular season series, who's actually surprised by this? The 9-4 loss, and the home game where the Wings blew the lead with only a minute left or so are the two best examples. San Jose did indeed *****-slap the Wings, with a glove. WingsZR2 1 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 I only want Dallas in the next round because those late night west coast games are a big pain in the arse the next day at work. Throw in an overtime or two (like last night) and 6 am rolls around real fast. Coffee only takes you so far until the jitters kick in. Ah - freakin' - men brother. Nice to know I wasn't the only one dragging ass today.
redwings4life 3 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 The game that i saw with the sharks was the one where the red Wings had a 3 goal lead in the first 10 minutes them lost, but i think the experience of the Wings in the playoffs and the Home Ice Advantage at the Joe Will help us a lot. I RESPECT THE SHARKS BUT DO NOT FEAR THEM

jenova0 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Yeah the topics burning out really fast lol Everyone stay up for the game last night? I stayed up. I was very happy to see Franzen score too... Flames are a decent team, I just think they didn't have an identity. They are not the team they were in 2004. They need that identity back.

Whichever teams comes out of the Van/Dallas series I don't think will make it past the second round. Neither seems that strong and Van seems like they are running out of gas. I don't think anyone here is brushing off the Sharks as you put it, it's just ridiculous that their fans want to see them play the Wings, and pretty much the majority of them think it will be a 4 game sweep for the Sharkies, because Dom is old and the Wings are "soft". Sounds alot like what some Flames fans and even the Flames players themselves were saying before that series started, and look what happened. It annoys the hell out of me to see them all being so cocky about their team, and really the Sharks have done jack s*** in the playoffs, yet they all think the Wings will be an easy win. Let them keep talking their trash, and I hope they have to play Anaheim next, just so they get the hell beat out of them.

They were just, "the flames". That was it... there really wasn't power and respect behind it. And I'm glad Franzen scored.
Guest Tunbo Batman Report post Posted April 23, 2007 oh well, people have been writing us off for decades now, and look where it got them. i recall the flames being arrogant and loud-mouthed before the series even began, and again when it was 2-2. Heck, Cherrypie litterally took a game 6 win for calgary for granted. What a bunch of idiots. Let them underestimate us.....and be eliminated. That was the 9-4 loss. A dark day indeed. lol, i actually enjoyed that game a lot. there was just so much open space, great plays and goals. Plus, i knew it would be just a small bump on the road, and that we would go back to winning all the time.
high_stick69 7 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 I don't agree with the Hasek reasoning, but I would rather face the Wings than Anaheim too. The Ducks are the best team in the West right now. Hopefully we can play the Stars so the Sharks and Ducks can beat the crap out of each other. I agree!! I would much rather have a tired out Stars team coming off a tough 7 game series than a rested Sharks team. Let Thornton and Pronger fight w/ each other for a few games before we have to face one of them IMO....

DetroitNativePride 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 After living in San Jose for 7 years, I really want to know where all of these Sharks fans are... I'm a very vocal hockey fan and even so, I only met about 4 hockey fans while living in San Jose (I'm in SoCal now). The Sharks fans (who actually go to the games) want to play Detroit because Detroit rarely plays well in San Jose. GO WINGS.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 You cant really blame them for wanting to face Detroit. They manhandled us this year and Anaheim looks almost unstoppable. However...Calgary said the same thing about Detroit, and a lot of their attention was again focused towards Dom. Dom has made some huge stops and I, for one, dont even think weve seen the best of him so far. Itll be nice to see how SJ handles only having 20 shots a game. They can expect Dom to roll over all they want, but they have to get through Detroits defense first.

San Jose did indeed *****-slap the Wings, with a glove. It was actually 5.9 seconds left, I understand how you would want to forget about something like that, was just a broken play turned into a goal nothing to crazy.. Just the timing in which it happened. http://youtube.com/watch?v=YmdMa0OJqPo Ducks or Wings will be tough for the sharks they know that and they respect their next opponent whoever that may be. That being said.. Red Wings have a very solid veteran laden team with some very talented youth and a very reliable goalie in hasek, Yes Detriot will score off some of the mistakes the sharks make but the sharks will win this series in 4-5 games and hopeully the series ends in 5 only so it's on your ice. I'm very tired of watching red wings success, it's time to turn a new page. Here's to nashville winning the division next year and the st.louis blues sweeping the season series against the red wings. ;P

I RESPECT THE SHARKS BUT DO NOT FEAR THEM I was at that game. Once the Sharks scored two goals Detroit fell apart. Hasek fell apart the most, and Babs kept him in net way too long. I hope the Sharks aren't expecting that to happen again. That was a game that you move on from and forget about. The other losses, though, matter. However, all things said, this will be the first playoff series in a long time that Detroit is actually not "supposed" to win. Every series that they've lost recently, they flopped. Maybe the team will actually be READY to play. We'll see. I'd much rather them play Dallas en route to Anaheim or San Jose though.

I guess from my view it's just frustrating because I was always "the hockey fan" while I lived there. Not that it was a bad thing, but whenever I'd mention that I liked hockey everyone would tell me that I was in California now and I liking hockey wasn't practical. Detroit does have bandwagon fans, I'm sure of that. However, from traveling to many different cities for games, I have to say that a huge majority of the fans that I meet are all Detroit transplants (like my family) who just want to keep watching hockey. StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 I'd want to play the Wings over the Ducks if I were them too. They've been waging divisional war with Anaheim all year, they know how tough they are. Meanwhile they beat the piss out of us earlier this year and don't think we have what it takes to roll with them in an extended series.
