Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Well, we'll be up one man to start the 2nd. Just sucks that we played pretty well, but yet again, a defensive lapse leads to a big goal...

aarond 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 This team is lacking 1 major element to win the Stanley Cup, and thats heart. The way this team played last game and then now if they dont turn the momentum soon, San Jose will pick them alive. More cliched non-sense from knee jerky fans. I've been talking about this for two weeks now. YOu types never go away. The Wings played pretty well in that period. If that dinged post was two inches in the other direction, we're tied right now. If those two dinged posts in game 3 go our way, we're up 2-1 in the series. But since they were off my a mere inch or two, it forces knee jerks like you into the reaction that "they don't have heart," or "they don't want to win" or some cliched b.s. like that. Annoying. AlTheOctopus 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 We are playing pretty good. The second period will be better. As soon as I saw the Sharks set up that pass to Cheechoo, I knew it would be a goal. Our defenseman (whoever it was) tried to block the shot towards Hasek with his stick, but he should have kept it in the passing lane. Maybe he didn't know Cheechoo was behind him, who knows. Let's go Wings!!!

Wingfan191 2 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Well Bertuzzi is just making EJ Hradek right, his weak board play caused that goal to happen. If he would've held on to it or chipped it out, this game is still 0-0. Wings need the next goal, I don't see the luck going in their favor right now. bcwingsfan19 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Well I thought they played a pretty decent period and am pretty confident that the wings are going to get better throughout the game.

Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted May 3, 2007 The only good thing I am taking from the first is Hank's energy and that pp witht he idea that if we have another one or two like that we are sure to score - still, we MUST figure out how to put these close ones in. No more posts darn it. I now invoke the no post spell - all pucks (shot by WIngs) that are heading to the post will curve slightly and go in. And more heart too. johnnybgood 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 In all honesty i don't think the wings have a chance to win this series. San Jose has playmakers that capitalize on good opportunities and we don't. I am not saying we have no playmakers we just don't have anyone that can punish the opposing team for their mistakes is all
SliderJeff 11 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 earwigs? That made me think of the Star Trek movie and the Klingon ear-thing that got into Chekov's brain. Where are those Klingons when we need them? At least they are clearing the puck better tonight. Looking for something here to be happy about. Please score!!! "Capteen... they put kree-choors in our booties" Classic! J-Swift 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 That's extremely frustrating for the Wings to have a very well-organized power-play unit keep the Sharks hemmed in their zones for the entire 2 minutes, only to have a stupid play in our own end give the first goal to the Sharks almost immediately after. And after yet another clean faceoff loss in the defensive zone by Lang to set that goal up, I'm wondering just how much ice time he's going to see in the second. Filppula deserves his spot. Grypho 195 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 The Wings played pretty well in that period. If that dinged post was two inches in the other direction, we're tied right now. Both teams are playing EXTREMELY WELL. Both with extreme heart and skill. ONE PLAY ended up in a goal, that's all. But both of these teams are played a great first period. And don't forget, the Sharks scored first in Game 2. TWICE. We didn't win that game. Kick back and enjoy the game, it's a one goal game with FORTY minutes to go. BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 The Wings are something like 6 for their lives in the playoffs on the PP You'd think they'll break through at some point.... Or they'll continue to take slappers and wristers from the point that go a foot wide.....
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 amazing the difference homer makes. People think all he does is sit in front of the goalie, but he doesn't allow the goalie to cover rebounds or the defence to clear it, and he digs into the corners trying to get the rebounds back. He brings so much to the PP, and its only a matter of time we get one or two PP goals

Another thing I'm noticing is improved play by Lids too. He's been sub-par this series (which means he's been great, but not fantastic), but tonight he's looking better. evil204 4 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I can't believe none of you noticed that most of our shots come from the blue line and from horrible angles. The Sharks actually get the puck and maneuver around our defense to score their goals. All we do is shoot at first opportunity. You can't count on the puck deflecting off Holmstrom's stick on Schneider's shot and going in 3 times in a game.
