OsGOD 3 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I don't know if this matters at all: It's official: Wings' Lebda will return for Game 6 tonight
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I don't know if this matters at all: It's official: Wings' Lebda will return for Game 6 tonight That certainly helps. Here's hoping he not rusty and doesn't re-injure himself.
FinWing 26 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Hopefully he's alright and not rushing it, no need for that.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Unfortunately, I fear that he won't be too effective tonight. He won't be his normal mobil self, but his "veteran" presence might be better off than a healthy Meech. Hold on!
FinWing 26 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I think too that he's somewhat playing through it. Gotta just hope and believe the coaching staff are playing the cards right on this one.
rwfan007 18 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) Does anybody worry that even if we get by San Jose we will just be too beat up to give Anaheim a decent challenge?Defense is taking a hell of a pounding and the young replacements will make mistakes with Selanne or Getzlaf bearing down on them THe cup teams of yesteryear were ridiculously healthy when they won who isn't beat up? Anaheim has just gone through two rounds of playoff hockey. They are certainly feeling it. No one is going to be 100% from here on out. Quincey has held up very well and Lebda has proven that he can play. Oh yeah, in '02, our captain was basically on 1 knee, not exactly rediculously healthy. This is the playoffs, pain is commonplace. Championship teams fight through pain. Basically this whole season from October to now we have always had at least one regular player out, and now that regular is Schneider. We have a good TEAM, everybody plays defence. Edited May 8, 2007 by rwfan007
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Outside of getting badly burned playing the puck instead of the man once in game 5, Quincey has impressed. I think there's something to be said for putting a young, hungry player in a position like this, where he's thrown into a playoff game and has to perform. There's no replacing Schneider, especially his offensive contribution. But it's amazing what some of these call ups can do when given a chance. I do think the return on the investment of throwing in the GR boys diminishes over time, though. The longer the playoffs stretch on, the harder it's going to be for them to sustain the performance level.

I'm not overly worried even though Schneids is out, we won the last game basically without him anyway and there's always someone who'll step up and fill the void. This team is really showing guts, heart and determination and that will take them a long way, no matter who's playing.
Offsides 21 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Good news! I've been missing Lebs immensely...I just hope he's 100% or close to it!
Guest GodofHockeyStevieY19 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Thank you God! lol That is so relieving. Especially with Schneids done for the year. We definitely need Lebda out there on the blue line. He's a hard worker, and knows how to put the puck in the net. Plus he rushes the zone all the time. And I love that. Hopefully he'll be at 100%, and not just coming back early because of Schneider being out. Either way there is no doubt in my mind that the series is ending tonight. Bring on the Ducks. WingNut199 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 We had 5 D in game 5 and totally out played San Jose. I want lebda back , but if he cant go , let Meech have a shot. That kid will play his heart out to be in the playoffs. I agree 100% The young guys have been playing really well and making the most out of their opportunities if lebdas not ready GIVE THE YOUNG GUY A SHOT
dicksmack 33 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I hope he's ready to go and I hope he plays all out! Even if he isn't 100% if he joins in on the rush, he draws attention. GO BART!
glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I agree 100% The young guys have been playing really well and making the most out of their opportunities if lebdas not ready GIVE THE YOUNG GUY A SHOT We really need Lebda, Tonight's game is far too important to give even more inexperienced players a run out against a tough team like the Sharks. We are already playing with one. ( I think Quincey's been doing a great job for a rookie.)

hockeysattva 8 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I would not expect him to take his regular ice time... He got less than half of the normal recovery time -- ten days barely compares with four to six weeks. As another side note or two: Am I the only one who still imagines Fish having really come to his own and paired with Chelios? The call-ups also give some guys a chance at getting their names on the cup. I think its 28 regular season games, two playoff games or one finals game will get you on without petition (if I remember correctly). But, even more importantly -- strong playoff play definitely helps get someone into the NHL on a permanent basis. I have not problem at all with any of our new "kids" being their, and I am not worried about them at all. I just don't want to see more serious injuries. Imagine if we could have Fisch and his 6'4 frame on our team right now . He'd friggen own the sharks. Him and Chelios would be a sweet D pairing
arin 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Imagine having Fisch and possibly Konstantinov.... Those two are exactly what this team needs right now. Anyways, hopefully Lebda has a nice game and gets some PP time. I'm interested to see how he does on the point to possibly get rid of Sammy. Ive said it before and will again - he would be much better than Sammy. Has the wheels to get the puck back to the zone if cleared, and if need be can pretty much take the puck deep by himself with no problem. Has shown he has a potentially good shot. I still remember a sweet one-timer from the blueline he had near the end of the season...
