hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Wings are a very good team, but once the series starts on Friday, you guys will be able to see just how the Ducks play their game. The Wings will have difficulty facing the Ducks. If the WIngs fall behind like they fell behind to the Sharks in almost every game of this past series, please do not think that the Ducks will give up 2 goals leads and lose games. If you think that will happen in this series, you are very wrong indeed. and whats wrong is duckS fans thinking they are playing the wild all over again. im glad you all think that. keep it up. jpfalcon09 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Wow, this is my first time on the board since the win last night and this thread already has 9 pages to it!? I don't feel like reading 9 pages of mostly mindless dribble, but I'm sur emost of it includes "lolz chelios is old and slow" and "we're bigger, stronger and faster and oh yeah you guyz are old and dom's gonna pull his groin". Hearing most of the pundits already giving this series to Anaheim, stating the same reasons why the Wings would lose to San Jose just makes me more and more happy that Anaheim is the favorite in this series. This Wings team this year thrives on being the underdog. Finishing #1 in the West must hold little merit to the Wings only, because it certainly seems like a death curse on this team to eventually lose. I also love the fact that the Wings have home ice in this series. Anaheim was God awful in Detroit this year, scoring only 1 goal in both games, losing them both. The Wings proved last series they can win out west, a much tougher feat for a team in the eastern time zone to do than a pacific time zone team winning in the east. Another thing I love about this series is coaching. Mike Babcock's experiences go well beyond those of Rick Carlyle's, regardless of how far the Ducks went last year. Babs has shown the ability to change things up during games, where watching most of Carlyle's games have been tight affairs and it seems coaching adjustments are rarely made. Babcock has made this Wings team able to play any style at any time, and I love that going into this series. So, Duck fans, prepare for a hard fought series with a team that has the heart, passion and grit to compensate for all the teams already eliminated. Think what you want about Detroit being old, slow, depleted on defense. This team will come to battle, win or lose every night. I feel good about Detroit's chances. Guys like Bertuzzi, Cleary, Maltby, Franzen and Holmstrom will be in your face every game. The Wings know what it takes to get Chris Pronger off his game, ask him how many times barring last year against Edmonton that he's beaten Detroit. I want to see how Anaheim reacts to strong backchecking, tight boardwork and a defense core and goaltender who make goals seem more rare than finding cheap gas. Friday will begin the Wings final march to the Cup. They will be not be denied this year. A force is coming that no one wants to reckon with. It's time for the stretch run to a 11th Stanley Cup banner at Joe Louis Arena. Let's go Red Wings Red Wings in
GiantRobot 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 The Duck has been the best playoff team over the last 4 years. They have the best regular season record over the last year and a half. They got this far last year WITHOUT Pronger. The ducks have only made the playoffs twice in the last 4 years, but they are the best p/o team?

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Face it. The Duck has been the best playoff team over the last 4 years. I believe a round of "Count the Rings" is in order. New Jersey - 1 Tampa Bay - 1 Carolina - 1 They may have been good, bu they aren't the best.
clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 As I stated before, the Wings do NOT have a weak defense. The entire team is very defense orientated, and they play solid. A weakness of the Ducks is that we have a few players that play solid defense. I know everyone already mentioned Niedermayer and Pronger (who I guess people dislike, care to elaborate so I can learn more Detroit rivalries?), but it is important to highlight Beauchemin and Pahlsson, who play defense well. Again, this pales in comparison to Detroit's team-defense. In one of our games against Vancouver, we took 60-70 shots, and should have racked up a fairly high score, but Luongo was AMAZING. We will not get 60-70 shots on a team that can limit you to 20 over an entire game. I think our defense is going to be tired at the end of this series, so I'm looking forward to our offensive lines to produce some scoring. I do acknowledge that Detroit is by far our hardest opponent thus far, but think we can keep pace with you guys. Either way, looking forward to it. What a nice polite young man. Hmm, Pronger. Very talented. In the past a bit of a cheap shot artist, but very dominating in the playoffs which is why people hate him. Wings had is number in St. Louis for years. My favorite memory is when Prongs went to cheap shot Yzerman high, Stevie ducked and Pronger blew out his knee. Poetic justice.
Wild Wing 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 ^Thanks man, I just like to know all the petty rivalries before each game/series. It gives the "boos" that rain so much more depth.
good morning 10 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Not that I had the chance to read, nor do I care to read, but imagine the chaos going down on the Disneyland Mighty Ducks forums.... It probably took about 25 minutes of conflict and squabbling before it was settled gently with a smile and a hug to a heart-tugging musical score, right before the credits rolled. oh wait, disneyland, not disney channel...well, same thing. As a generalization, So Californians are some of the most arrogent, obnoxious and self-absorbed people on the planet. Especially Orange County. Try bragging about multiple cup wins, hell how bout ONE CUP WIN? Oh s*** thats right, they have never won the Cup, and will NEVER win the cup. RedwingRunnamuck 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Ducks in 3, eh? How bout WIngs in 2. No, make that Wings in 1. Yah, Wings in 1, since we all know how to count. Wings in 1. did i forget to mention... Wings in 1.
Jiri the man 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Now ive always liked the WIngs, and my favorite player was Steve Yzerman. Even wear his number when playing hockey and have the Red WIngs team signed jersey from 2002, but my Ducks will win this series I believe. The absence of Schneider will cost the Wings dearly. I just cant see the WIngs beating the Ducks in this series. The Ducks are ready and well prepared, and are on mission. Ive seen every Wings games this postseason, and the Ducks speed is going to catch the Wings offguard. The Red Wings blueline is considerably slow, with the exception of Lebda and maybe Lidstrom. In my opinion, and you guys may not agree, but I think that the long passes the Ducks make in this series from blueline to blueline will really hurt the Wings. The defensive positioning of the Wings defensemen I think will cost the Wings the series. If the Wings fall down early like they did in the first 5 games in the San Jose series, mark my words, they will not pull out the wins like they did against San Jose in games 2 and 4. The Wings defense has serious weaknesses. Pahlsson is the most underrated player in the NHL, IMO. And watch out for this player I mention to you guys. His name is Ryan Getzlaf. He wil be the difference maker in this series. I'll be at the games here in Orange County Predicting Ducks in 6. However, as odd as this may sound to some of you, I wouldnt be surprised if the Ducks end up sweeping this series. Good luck If I remember corectlly, the Sharks was supposed to be even better than the Ducks when we first came to play them. What happened sinse then did the Ducks get better. This Red Wing team is not the same one the Ducks shut down a few years back and swept.NO NO NO this Red Wing team is hungry and very aggresive.Alot of us Wings fans knew when the Sharks and their fans was talking chit that they knew nothing of what was coming, and now it seems netheir do you guy's. Lets just hope for a good series and have fun no matter what t6he out come.Cause if the Wings win I WILL NOT say I told you so,cause u probablly wont be around to hear it. Zion 93 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 The Ducks SHOULD win this series. They have had an easy ride, they're healthy and a GREAT team. That said, San Jose was supposed to beat the Wings, too. Should be a great series.
