MVP debate

Pretty much right on with who they chose for the Wings. I really think Lids has it in the bag, if the Wings go on to win the Cup. Hank is only going to get better though and he's coming around so that will be something interesting to see as the Wings go deeper. Same goes for Dom. Definitely the best player against the Sharks. I'm sure if he were to play the same from here on out, which he most likely will then he'll have much consideration for it.

Thoughts?

UMM DATSYUK? CLEARY?

I don't have a problem with the three that were mentioned. They've all done something in the first two rounds that were huge, and they've all came up big at the right times during games to get us the W.

IMO though. MVP so far has been Cleary. He's done phenomenal in every situation he's been put in, and has made some huge plays, hits, and of course let's not forget that penalty shot goal that turned it all around.

The Lang goal was the turning point in the series. And we don't agree Lidstrom's the only choice. Lids or Hasek, it's a toss up for me.

Please guys, ANY goal could be the turning point of the series. What if Datsyuk doesnt score that goal in game 2? What if the Sharks win in OT? What if Homer didnt bat that puck in to make it 2-1 with 5 seconds left to go. What if Sammy...you get the point. You cant award the guy the Conne Smythe for one play or one goal or one save, but a combimation of things. Lets all just agree that there couldve been many outcomes for this series, but because the Wings played as a TEAM, they are still here today.

Haha, not picking on you HC, but its funny that Lang, Cleary, Lidstrom, and Hasek so far have all been credited with the season-saving event.

I can see the argument for Nick, and I can see the argument for Dom. But there are some that are being missed here and deserve some consideration. The names that come to mind are: Dan Cleary, Andreas Lilja, Chris Chelios and Pavel Datsyuk. All four of them have, in my opinion, a very legitimate argument for consideration.

The XM 204 guys were talking about how the Lang goal was the most pivotal goal of any playoff series so far, and I'm inclined to agree. Think about it. That goal doesn't happen, the Wings are down 3-1 and the Sharks have 3 tries to close out the series. But it does go in, and it breaks the Sharks' spirit. They've blown another lead, the Wings dominate the OT and go on to win it. The series is now tied, the Wings have regained home ice and the Sharks never recover, losing the next three games.

Oh come on.

Lang's goal was 100%, definitely the most important goal of the playoffs thus far. Definely the turning point.

Lang doesn't score...30 seconds later we will not recover to win the round.

Well I'm talking about the Flames series, not the season saving event. That would go to Robert Lang by a mile.
