theman19 47 Report post Posted May 31, 2007 Spector reports that wild goalie Manny Fernadez has requested a trade out of minn. Possible destinations include l.a., Pho, flordia and a maybe for Detroit. I've always like Manny and i think the wild are a little dumb for putting a termendous amount of faith in backstrom. Also noted is the fact that he just came off of knee surgery, and hasn't played in a while now. The fact that Fernandez has been nothing but a borderline starter, at best, on a defense first team like Minnesota is enough for me to steer clear of him. Winther 6 Report post Posted May 31, 2007 During the lockout he was playing in sweden, and i think he were outplayed by several others f.a. Gerber, Lundqvist etc.. He then played in Luleå Hockey, which is known for a physical style of play, although not the defensive one that minnesota plays. TSN , ESPN , The Score , Sportsnet. When Fernadez went down with his injury , he was healthy again before the season ended. Lemaire didnt even have him dress as a back up , Harding was the back-up. I'm sure Fernandez was pissed, ther'e usually an unwritten rule that you don't lose your job to injury, but in this case it wasn't. Backstrom was on a tear and he rightfully kept the #1 and as for Harding he's the future of the Wild and I believe Lemaire's reason was since it was working, why mess with it? Obviously he wasn't happy with what Fernandez was saying or how he was preparing to play, but just because he was pouting about not getting his job back doesn't make him a cancer in the locker room. It's only mentioned because the Wings don't have a true #1 goaltender set for next season, since Dom hasn't decided if he's going to come back or not. ...and it basically is their way of saying Osgood is no longer a starting goalie.
