Awww dammit! ahahahahahaha LMFAO I think we should all write a letter to Versus. The FIRST sign I saw of the ticker on the bottom alerting me was almost 2 HOURS after the program was supposed to start... i'm FLAMING pissed however, it just means I get to watch the whole thing from start to finish and know the winners..... Dixie Wingslover 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) The Versus contract was $135 million for two seasons ( 05-06 and 06-07 ) with an OPTION for the third ( 07-08) at $72.5 million. Unable to find out whose option, though..... the league may find itself with NO national deal for next year..... and judging from what has been happening..... Versus doesn't want it. The deal breaker with ESPN last time was the league ( Bettman's) demand that the only channel to carry games was to be the main ESPN. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 I believe he's just painfully shy. Also, he still doesn't have good command of the English language, and I think that makes him uncomfortable. He should know by now that we don't care! We love him anyway!!! This sounds harsh, but honestly I think if he won a better award, he'd be there. It's not a reflection on Dats. I probably wouldn't show up just to get the Lady Byng either. I mean, did they have to put "Lady" in the title, to make it an even less manly award? Who wants to win the nicest guy award in a tough sport like hockey?

T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) TSN now has articles up about each winner, if anyone is interested: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/ Lidstrom won with 1,217 points in voting, ahead of Niedermayer's 1,024 and Pronger's 608. Who wants to win the nicest guy award in a tough sport like hockey? Ehh, maybe it's just me and my weird way of thinking, but I believe LB's an honor. There's something very special about a player who can win this award: first, it means that he's at the top of his sport, and he got there without resorting to cheap shots, dirty play, or trash talk. Mind you, those are all things that make up this game, but I don't think the LB's anything to be scorned.

I didn't realize the first place winner gets $10,000. Maybe I changed my mind about this award.

He should know by now that we don't care! We love him anyway!!! No kidding! Congrats to Nick and Pasha both, but I honestly have to have a long talk with Pasha about this stage fright thing. I thought I had it bad, he makes mine look minor! Come on, Pasha, we're not asking for a dissertation, just two words - "Thank you".
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 I'm pretty happy with all the winners, with the exception of Brindamour for Selke. I think it should have been Pahlsson, and can't help wonder how the votes might have been different if Pahlsson played on the east coast and Brind'Amour on the west. And it ain't that exciting to see Brodeur win another Vezina, but he's a legitimate choice. And I have a feeling Luongo's time will be coming very soon. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 Congratulations to Lidstrom - I'm so proud! Congrats to Pavel also. Nothing wrong with the Byng trophy - I don't know why some are bashing it... I cannot believe ESPN ticker doesn't have the winners - I waited through 10 mins of baseball scores for nothing when I got home! Any chance there will be a video of Nick's acceptance posted somewhere???

RedRockit 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) Random Thoughts re the NHL Awards: 1) Sidney Crosby. Dude, I haven't seen an iller-fitting tux since RockitSon's freshman year rental for the Jr/Sr prom (what can I say, older women love him), and THAT was a Geoffrey Beene. I think Sid must have gotten his at Tuxes-R'nt-Us. 2) MacLean ruled, they should have him host the Oscars, so many burns and zingers did he have. Granted, he didn't write 'em, and granted, sometimes his delivery was a bit rushed, but whoaaa, was it ever topical and right on target. 3) Bettman sucks. 4) Pronger sucks. 5) #3 and #4 go without saying, but I just had to say it anyway, because they suck harder in formal wear.
