Devils land Souray

Wow. Nice signing for the Devils. Honestly, I thought Souray would get a higher contract than Rafalski. Part of me wishes we snagged Souray instead. Especially if its a cheaper contract. But then the other part of me knows how great of a fit Rafalski will be to the Red Wings. Before free agency began I would have said, Souray over Rafalski. But honestly, there is no doubt in my mind that Kenny made the right pick with Rafalski.

...and the last big name is gone...

The Devils had to land somebody, especially a defenseman, after losing Rafalski. Souray should help provide offense to that staggaring team, even if he is a pylon. Good signing I guess.

TNL NOTE: This is still a "report." We ask that you wait until an official announcement before jumping to immediate conclusions and then bashing the website later. This comes from a very trustworthy source and this rumour, according to our new rumour system is a (10) {which means - done deal, just waiting to be announced}. More will follow shortly.

So the deal ain't official yet...

This is expected to happen. No big news here. No team wanted to pay him the 6M+ he wanted because hes all offense and no D. He wouldve been a terrible replacement for when Lidstrom leaves, but wouldnt have been a bad pick up if Lidstrom had already retired and Rafalski was all we had.

Sweet!

Oh wait!

DAMMIT Holland he was a fine defenseman... Ye be fallin' in yer efforts t' 'ave a crew based on soley defense!

Are you serious? Souray is a TERRIBLE defenseman.

I knoww! Seriously.

Its starting to piss me off too. We need to sign someone, Days are going by and less and less players are avaible. I don't want to to sign some piece of trash.

What, such pieces of trash as he signed last year? Hasek and Markov?

Different year, same bulls*** from the same people.

Put that away. Yes, blah blah blah .. Holland is being "patient". But the best we're hearing is ANDREW RAYCROFT. You've got to be kidding me. Rafalski is signed as a replacement Schneider. In my books Holland hasn't made 1 move yet. And if I hear him comment with another one of his "we're in no rush" lines ....

You actually think Schneider is better then Rafalski?

Hint: Rafalski had more, yes, count 'em more points then Schneider last year, and doesn't suck ass defensivly like Schneider. In fact, Rafalski can play on the PP as well as the PK. So tell me, how is that not a good replacement?

did you guys really want three 6 mill/year D men when we still need to fill out our top 2 forward lines and sign a goalie?

Don't forget that the D-man in question hardly plays top three defense- he's basically a forward who sits farther from the face-off circle. :sly:
