Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 What is this? The pre-lockout NHL? They are paying SCOTT GOMEZ 10 MILLION DOLLARS this season? A guy who scored 13 goals last season..wow. What will Dan Cleary expect when he becomes a UFA.... Once again, the Rangers are whats wrong with the NHL. Glen Sather, you are a moron. P.S. If Gomez plays all 82 games this year, he will make $121,951.22 per game. Makes you a little sick doesn't it?
interminded 1 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Scott made a good deal for himself. Of course it's way out of proportion.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 (edited) He's making a little over 7 a year. Still overpriced, but not 10 million. That would be completely insane. He'd probably then be the highest paid player in the league. The Rangers may be dumb, but not that dumb. What bothers me is that Gomez is getting more than Drury. That is what I don't understand. EDIT: WOW. I didn't know he'd be making 10 million this season. WHAT THE HELL?! Scott Gomez is going to make 10 million this season? They really are dumb. Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Well Dan Maloney is gone, I would expect Sather to go back to his 'winning ways.'
Cicada 4 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 they should have signed nylander
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 It mystifies me what goes on inside that GM office at MSG. Gomez is probably the most overpaid player in the league now. A small makeshift playmaker who scored a whopping 13 goals last year is making more money then Joe Thornton, who is probably the best playmaker in the game and is a consistant 100 point scorer. I don't get what's going on with that deal. Gomez banked in off the Rangers stupidity. I don't know how they felt he was better then Nylander. Because he's younger? Regardless, it's still a horrible deal. Doesn't really bother me a whole lot. I've never been a Jaromir Jagr fan by any sense, so if they flounder next season, it won't really hurt my feelings at all.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 To be fair, I think their current payroll is only around $30 million (cap hit) for next year so far.
JayUp88 1 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 Its a lot of money but the rangers are going to be good, so its worth it
