Izzy24 44 Report post Posted September 9, 2007 Robert Lang, captain, for real? The guy can't motivate himself. Though with the sorry state the Blackhawks are in, it would be a beautiful accent to their laughable program. I still can't believe there are people who honestly think he should have been the captain here! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! please tell me thats a joke.... It's no joke. He scored all the big goals for us in the playoffs the last few years. What did Lidstrom and that Yzerman guy ever do for us in big games?
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Great, I can just envision the lazy and sucks comments to go to an all-time high now if this happens...

What did Lidstrom and that Yzerman guy ever do for us in big games? Love the sarcasm. Love the short memory even more. Lang scored the most important goal of the Wings' playoff run. Guest Yzer19 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 How could it be a joke. He scored all the big goals for us in the playoffs the last few years. What did Lidstrom and that Yzerman guy ever do for us in big games? I'm sure Lang would be a decent captain, but the Wings really weren't in need of a captain when Lang was here. Lidstrom is by far a better player than Lang was for the Wings. That really doesn't matter anyways. A player doesn't have to be the best player on the team to be captain. Lidstrom did a great job as captain last year. If a 36 year old Lang was with the Wings in 86-87 then it would've made sense to give him the captaincy over the young player. Covenant 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Also, no one can score clutch goals in big games the way that he can. Fairly clutch late in Game 4 vs. the Sharks.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Bob Lang ready to be captain? I think we all know what the answer to that question is. Go get 'em, Boberino.
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted September 10, 2007 I don't see how this is funny, or how anyone can bash him when none of us here know whether or not he can lead a team. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as Captain. I think it'd be great for him. Well, Yzerman always led by example, as does Nick, so.... what else need be said? GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Do you wish Bob were still here, GMR? Most of what I said was just good offseason humor because there's nothing else to talk about. I was glad to see him go, but if I'd known that Dallas Drake would be the only forward we'd acquire, I probably wouldn't have been so excited to see Lang go. Yeah, and a 2nd-line center who wasn't so worthless--indeed, in danger of being benched--might have scored two goals in that same game.
Guest jaytan Report post Posted September 10, 2007 I wouldn't even name him the captain in an individual sport.
