wingsfan40 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=338854 maybe next year is grigs year. I bet grigs plays in GR for a couple weeks then moves up to the Wings for the rest of the season. Downey has a 2 way contract so it wouldnt be a big deal to move him around as needed. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 I thought we already had a thread about this? Anyway, the plan for Grigs is to put him in Grand Rapids so he can adjust more quickly to North American style hockey. If the wings put him on the roster, he would be a 13th forward and get so little ice-time it would hardly help him adjust. Once hes meshed in well enough with our style of play, the Wings will most likely bring him up to the "majors".

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Doesn't look like Cleary is in tomorrow. Per M-Live: Update from practice Tuesday: Forward Mark Hartigan has cleared waivers and is headed to Grand Rapids. Other than that, it was a fairly uneventful day as the team got in its final practice before Wednesday's season-opener vs. Anaheim. Everyone, inlcuding Dan Cleary (bruised ribs), is healthy and ready to go.The Ducks arrived in Detroit late Sunday night from London, where they opened the season by splitting a pair of games with the Kings. I bet Downey replaces him.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 3, 2007 Yeah, Danny's ready to go, score goals and scrape (Yes, fight, with his fists). I really would like to see Downey go tommorow, games agaisnt Chicago, St Louis, Anaheim and any other Original 6 teams Downey should play agaisnt.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 3, 2007 I am surprised to see Downey on the roster. That said, I think Downey on the Wings has more to do with Grigs not beating out one of the regulars that it does with Downey vs Grigs; the team would rather have Grigs play because they are still confident he can be the top 6 winger they want him to be once he adjusts.
