Naslund on the move?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

The gentlemen of Sportsnet's HockeyCentral panel were just speculating that the Canucks will try to move Naslund. The only team they mentioned as a possible suitor was Detroit, on account of the many Swedes. While I can't say for sure there's much too this - it may just be that all Swedish players are rumoured to be here -I would not be suprised to see Naslund move. I'd like the move, although I see him moving by the trade deadline, not now. He's in the last year of his contract and Detroit has cap room to bring him in. Any objections to Naslund wearing the winged wheel? If not, perhaps the question is: how much would you be willing to give up/pay for Naslund?

No.

If Holland even has the balls to make a trade like that, I would not want it to be for another soft, washed up shell that hasn't had a productive season in a long time. If we're going to give up potential star players in a big trade (guys like Kindl, Helm, Brenden Smith come to mind) it better be for someone productive, like Shane Doan, which has also rumored.

We have too many Naslund type players on this team already. Because Naslund can no longer score on an effective basis, he's become a higher paid version of Mikael Samulesson. He doesn't bring anything else to the game if he's not scoring. He used to, but not anymore.

If the 2nd line continues to be an issue (aka suck) then it might be an option worth exploring, just so we actually have someone on the 2nd line. But if better options are available, I'd rather look at those.

I'd rather have Naslund than Forsberg. He's got a better shot, isn't as injury prone, and isn't as hated by Wings fans worldwide as Floppa is.

Actually, I agree. Floppa can be amazing, but Naslunds got more in the tank and he is good for 70 points. Sure, Forsberg may get you 2 points a game, but what good is that when he plays 10% of the time.

Not sure when the last time was that Doan outscored Naslund in a year

So by your accounts, Doan isn't "productive" either...because last time i checked Naslund has put up more points then Doan in recent years.

I'm surprised at the lack of support for Naslund! He was considered an elite player not long ago. But whoever said it is right that I wouldn't want to give up a good prospect for half a season of Naslund, because there's no guarantee he'll put up huge numbers here. Perhaps Naslund would be the sort of guy to go after during the off-season....he very well might have some incentive to come here at a good value, considering the Swedes and Detroit's competitiveness every season. But that doesn't mean the Canucks have much incentive to send him here for cheap - unless he has a no-trade clause and singles out Detroit as a destination....but I don't know about his contract, and I find that unlikely anyways!

Personally, at this point, I would take Naslund of Forsberg. While Naslund has recently because completely inconsistent, he is still more consistent that Forsberg overall -- at least Naslund makes it to the rink! Floppa's one of a kind, but he makes a lousy bench warmer. There is no doubting that Naslund is a more skilled player than Sammy (let's not exaggerate too much!) and that he's put up huge numbers only a couple of seasons ago.

I can understand not wanting to give up prospects...but really nobody can say that Nazzy would be a bad addition. The guys got offensive skill regardless of his production. Hes no Sammy. If he puts up 65 points, its a letdown for this guy. Frankly, youre talking out of your ass if you dont think having Nazzy would give us a dominant powerplay, probably the best in the league consistently. If we lose out on other options, I would definitely welcome Naslund.

I'd rather get Forsberg as a FA then give up something worth while for Naslund.
