jenova0 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 A very entertaining game to watch, and Chicago looks very good offensively. Albeit, it's the Leafs, and Raycroft has maintained his 1 bad goal per game. As it stands Lang would have the game winner. But I'm telling you the Blackhawks could very well make the playoffs this year.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 If Toskala was playing, the Leafs would be winning 4-1 right now.
jenova0 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 A 5-4 game is a beatdown??? With Lalime in net, um, hell ya. Leafs only scored 2 good goals this game, both by Sundin on breakaways. But yeah, the game is close now, and it IS the LEAFS.
redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) well to be nice, chicago was down 3-1 at one point, so you have to give them a bit of credit there. But sounds like another patented Leafs meltdown in the third.. Hawks take it 6-4 Edited October 21, 2007 by redwingfan19
jenova0 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) Very entertaining game. It's clear the Leafs cannot handle any teams with speed. That will be a big issue in the "new" NHL. Edited October 21, 2007 by jenova0
handyandy_101 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 i mean this 100% literally and seriously.....the leafs are a laughingstock and are an embarrasment to this league....they play in the city where hockey lives, they shouldnt be this bad. its been the same sad (albeit HILARIOUS) story for the past 2+ years - and as much as i HATE the leafs - something has to change
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 I'm starting to really dislike Lang, and I actually supported Lang last season. BUT now he's giving his all, he's getting points in lots of game and he's killing penaltys, he's forechecking, what's next? He's gonna fight Boogard and WIN? Man, I dont think it's dislike, I think it's I'd like to have this Lang on our team now.

This guy has a fragile ego, im talking european soccer player fragile, and he just can't function some where like detroit where he's playing 4th or 5th fiddle on offense. so there is no use in saying "crap, i wish we still had him", because it wouldnt have worked that way. i think we just be (relatively) happy for him, cuz at the end of the day, i he won't be getting in the way of our run to the cup

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) 4 point night for Williams. Lang 8 pts this season, Williams 7. Two s***ty players benefiting from 1st line minutes on a bad team. Ugh. I hate it when these Wings castoffs play like s*** when their here, yet once their gone they start producing. It's ridiculous. Williams was one of the worst players on this team last year, and now in Chicago he looks like a 1st line player. Why is it that these guys can't do that kind of stuff here? My God, Williams was certainly getting enough ice time to produce last year before he was traded. Edited October 21, 2007 by Kp-Wings
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) Of course they are going to play much better on a much different team. They have much bigger roles now. They are going to get tons of ice time and will probably consistently be on the top 2 lines. The more you play, the more you produce. Lang is a great player. Always has been. It's no surprise he's doing this well. Edited October 21, 2007 by HockeyCrazy3033

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 Forgotten about last season? I wouldn't call Lang a 'great' player. I would. Last season was nowhere near as bad as majority made it out to be. The only knock on him is at times he takes shifts off. When he's on his game he is indeed great. In my opinion anyways..

Flip-check 6 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 Grapes couldn't stave off going senile for ever, you know. I'm glad El Bobbert is improving his game in Chicago. I see nothing that kept him from playing well here, either, however - not even "increased minutes" that he gets in the windy city. But it's good he's showing that he wants it this year at least. RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 The only reason Lang did bad here is because he read these boards. We hit him hard mentaly.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 Lang had a wicked shot in that game, streaking down the right side wrists a laser top corner..... good to see him doing well
Cheli24 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 Wow! 5 goals in the third? Impressive. Kane and Toews could be a very deadly combo in the future.
SweWings 45 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 What the hell happened? When I stopped watching after the 2nd period, Chicago seemed down and out... 5 goals in the third sheeesh - impressive...
daniel1 32 Report post Posted October 21, 2007 I'm starting to like their team this year. That move to get Patrick Sharpe is looking pretty good for them. When they made the deal with Philly to get him I couldn't believe how little they had to give up (Matt Ellison, 3rd rounder) and I was a little disappointed that Kenny couldn't have got him. He was a blue chip prospect in Philly's organization but after a slow start with the big club they soured on him pretty quick and Chicago made a good move bringing him over. Williams for Calder is looking good for the Hawks now too. I'm sure Williams will "play bigger" in Chicago than he did here cause he's knows he's got Lapointe and Koci watching his back... here he had ???, oh yea; no one. Lang looks like he has something to prove after the Wings gave him the cold shoulder and he has the talent to do it if he's properly motivated and no one ever asks him to backcheck or skate hard either. Kane and Toews look like the real deal and Tuommo Ruutu might actually live up to the hype and 1st round (9th overall !!) billing. Lapointe and Samsonov are there for depth and veteran leadership. Yanic Perreault can win some faceoffs and chip in with the odd goal. Their D is above average with Keith/Seabrook and Wisniewski. Khabibulin has a cup and isn't that far removed from being touted as an "elite" goaltender so it's conceivable that he could return to form, or at least respectability. All in all, I see the Hawks as a team on the rise and if they keep on improving and building confidence then watch out if they make the playoffs cause they could do some damage. If not this year then with one or two free agent signings I can see them challenging for the division title when Kane and Toews have a year or two of NHL experience under their belts. Oh yea, and they've already beaten us... twice. I'm actually happy to see another Central team return from the cellar and become a better team.
