amberlynn25 9 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) George James Malik is a 28-year old freelance writer who has a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan, and he's currently available for research, writing, and Bar Mitzvah opportunities. He's been a Red Wings fan since 1991, and has played both as a grinding pest of a forward and as a stand-up goalie. He spends his spare time keeping on top of the hockey world, watching the NHL Center Ice package, and attempting to write bad poetry. if he was a wings fan wouldnt he know that Homer wasnt coach? Hanks hair...that can be forgivin..but coach...he needs an ear cut off Edited November 16, 2007 by amberlynn25
2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 I wonder if Mitch Albom will ever right another hockey article. Did he even write one about Yzerman's number retirement? Albom's too busy thinking up stupid cliche's for the Sports Reporters to write a Red Wing story, he would prefer to talk about Ben Wallace being a cry baby than Stevie being an all time hero to the city of Detroit. CenterIce 83 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 This is why you have to be careful when reading stories from the Internet, especially from blogs. You don't always know who the author might be. This guy is definitely not a journalist. He is just a "fan" with a blog.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 funnily enough though Gorge James Malik is about the most interesting of the Wings writers, even though he's technically a "blogger".. he writes the occasional article for A2Y and it's always an interesting read. his stuff's a hell of a lot more interesting than the usual manufactured crap the beat writers publish, almost word for word with each other. Guest jaytan Report post Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) Isn't this basically the blog for those small-town papers across Michigan? You probably just have a case of below-average writers and editors and a smaller staff. I'm sure you can find similarly embarassing errors all over the site. As far as the Free Press and the News' Wings coverage, I'd say they both do a better job at hockey coverage than almost every other market's papers in the US. Hank 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Albom's too busy thinking up stupid cliche's for the Sports Reporters to write a Red Wing story, he would prefer to talk about Ben Wallace being a cry baby than Stevie being an all time hero to the city of Detroit. Or growing his hair longer to cover up his Dumbo ears. Either that, or he's too busy writing a book where he lets everyone know he's better at appreciating life than anyone else on the planet. Al-bomb is an idiot and I'm glad he doesn't write much about the Wings. He once wrote an article about how the Wings should have dealt Fedorov before the 03 deadline because they should have known he'd fly the coop. Sure Dumbo. It makes a lot of sense to deal one of your top forwards before the playoffs on the CHANCE that he might not resign with you. Even if Fedorov flat-out told Holland "I won't be back" you still don't deal him. You just won the Cup the year before, you don't deal away your best players because they'll leave. Albom's an idiot and I hope he gets eternal wedgies from 5 People He'll Meet in Heaven when he dies.

haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 (edited) LOL. He's not a bad writer, I just get tired of how full of himself he is. Amen brother. He's so over the top melodramatic these days. He rarely writes about hockey anymore, but I knew he wouldn't pass up the chance to write some dewey-eyed self-indulgent piece on Yzerman's retirement. Besides, ever since he crossed the picket line during the Free Press strike, good ol' Tuesdays with Scabbie has been pretty much dead to me. Its almost like he takes the wings for granted.

Kings C Mike Cammalleri also played at Michigan. Click on the Jack Johnson link to see where he was really born. If you don't believe Yahoo! Wikipedia NHL Also, I e-mailed Mitch Albom tonight and asked why he doesn't write about hockey or the Wings anymore. I know many here who don't like him, but I do and am curious. J-Swift 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I wonder if Mitch Albom will ever right another hockey article. Did he even write one about Yzerman's number retirement? Gushing about Yzerman is about the only Wing-related thing Mitch Albom has done in recent years. Although I think he might have wrote a piece showing his disapproval of the Hasek signing in the summer of '06.

If they act like they haven't watched a game or don't know what they are talking about, don't give them the time or day. Don't worry about what other people think/write about the Wings when you have no control over how much credit/discredit they give. Quit focusing on negative media if it makes you upset. We are not going to change their opinions/how they write anytime soon. You like the Wings/know how good they are and they aren't going away anytime soon either. Let's be happy and content about that.
