vangvace 12 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 TORONTO - Nashville Predators forward Scott Nichol has been suspended for five games, without pay, for an incident involving Montreal Canadiens defenseman Patrice Brisebois in NHL Game #374 Dec. 1, the National Hockey League announced today. Nichol was assessed a double minor for highsticking at 16:40 of the second period. "The crosscheck by Mr. Nichol to the head area of his opponent was reckless and dangerous," said Colin Campbell, NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations. "Although no serious injury resulted, the action is unacceptable." Nichol, who was suspended nine games for an incident in December, 2006, now is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, he forfeits $45,731.70 in salary based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (187). The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. Nichol will miss Nashville's next five games -- Dec. 4 at Toronto, Dec. 6 vs. Vancouver, Dec. 8 vs. Anaheim, Dec. 10 vs. Detroit and Dec. 13 vs. Colorado. He will be eligible to return Dec. 15 at Colorado. tsn article

Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 probably would have been 2 games if he didn't have prior history of suspensions. And unfortunately, he's got some naked photos of Trotz or something. Nichol is the one guy that I do not want on the Predators. Don't like him, never have, never will. He's cheap and dirty. Nice guy, dirty player.

Your the same way with Nichol, as how I was with bertuzzi. I hated him on the wings, I completely understand how you feel, dirty players are not good on a team. DEVILSWATERBOY 10 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 why is this happening so much Why is what happening the suspensions or the cheap shots the answer to both is simple, it is the leagues falt for trying to remove fighting from the game. Players need to be held accountable on the ice we need old time hockey again. example the last game the Wings had against the Blue Jackets was one of the most entertaining games that I have seen in 4 years lot of physical play a couple of fights it reminded me of Detroit and Chicago in the early 90s
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I'm surprised a player received more than a two-game suspension.

Hank 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 As a repeat offender he should have gotten 10-15 games. That was a braindead move on his part.

When someone is taking liberties on your team to this degree, they need to be dealt with. All the penalties would cancel out anyway, because this guy had a penalty already for high-sticking. EastLansingNative 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Fighting is good for the game. If nothing else, it's marketable and WILL draw people to the sport. When is the last time someone was out with an injury sustained during fisticuffs? Cheap shots, dirty hits, and vicious retaliations are what cause injuries to players, not fighting.
