WhiteCloud 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 Best stickhandlers Datsyuk - While some of the others are better players I think Datsyuk is the best pure stick handler in the game today. He does things that nobody else would even try. When he is on his game he can make the best defensmen in the game look like mites. I wrote a blog post at my SEO blog about Datsyuk. If you are interested you can check it out here, be warned though if you are not into SEO it will probably not interest you that much. Most vicious hitters Phaneuf - This one is tough and I may be a bit biased because I am exposed to Phaneuf more than the others but he reminds me of Stevens more and more. He is great at picking his spots and he annihilates other players. And I am not a fan of the Flames but Phaneuf is a vicious hitter. One on one defenders Lidstrom - I think Lidstrom is the best d-man in the game and honestly I think he is the best player in the NHL right now. He is almost unbeatable one on one so this one is a no-brainer for me. Most vicious snipers Kovalchuk - Great pure goal scorer and his game is rounding out quite nicely but he can score from anywhere. Not much more that I can say. Undrafted players St. Louis - This one is tough too because all of these players bring different skills to the game. While Madden is great defensively and Penner is a monster when on his game, St Louis is an elite player. The others are great in their own rights but St Louis is one of the top players in the game. Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 (edited) List is spot-on. Although I haven't seen Briere too much, so I don't know how great of a stickhandler he is. Instead, I'd put Jagr in his place- great puck control, and uses his size to protect very well too. Might be the best at it; him or Thornton. datsyukonethree 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 Ovechkin doesn't belong on the stickhandlers list. He's good, but I'd put Tim Connolly and Ryan Getzlaf above him for sure, and probably others as well.

BringHomeTheCup! 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 (edited) If we are talking pure stickhandling abilities, then my vote has to go to Alex Kovalev. I've seen clips of this guy in practice, he is just simply disgustingly unbelievable. An honorable mention goes to Robbie Schremp (dunno if I spelled that right.). Look him up on youtube. He is AMAZING beyond anything I've ever seen. He is Oliers property last I checked, but still a minor leaguer. Edited December 9, 2007 by BringHomeTheCup! BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 You know what, I was thinking of good stick handlers and my list didn't feel fulfilled, I knew there was someone I was missing, and Conolly was that someone. He might in fact be the most dazzling North American stickhandler in the world.

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Underated 1. Kopitar 2. Jokienen 3. Savard 4.Sydor 5. Stillman Kopitar is pretty speculated, can't argue that. Olli I assume? Jokinen, is the captain of Florida let's not forget, but he wasn't that great pre-lockout, so basically he has only found his game a little over 2 seasons ago. Savard is the worst defensive player around, end of story. He gets points, but doesn't contribute in his own end. Sydor I think might be overrated. He doesn't have a goal yet this season, and only 2 assists. Sure points don't matter for defensemen, but to be a complete player and recognized by the media, points are a part of the issue. If Sydor made highlight reel hits and blocks nightly, then he might be rated as he should be (Exelby and Volchenkov are perfect examples) Stillman I'll agree though. 06TJSport 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Yeah that Schremp move is illegal because he lifts the puck way over the crossbar while on his stick which would be high sticking and blown dead immediately, but still impressive that he can do that
