League has balanced power

The NHL has completed more than a third of its schedule, and there are only seven points between the second-place team in each conference and those in the 11, 12 and 13 spots.

One might be tempted to conclude the parity promised by the league after the lockout has indeed arrived. At least until the Detroit Red Wings are brought into the equation.

In a salary-capped era when the Red Wings can no longer use the deep pockets that have served them so well since the early '90s, and when just about everyone's roster goes through major changes every summer, Detroit has not only managed to avoid falling back into the pack, it has continually found a way to rise above it. Automakers there should only learn to adapt that well.

Hooray for lovey dovey articles about the Red Wings. Enjoy.

Anyone else getting a little worried about all these Pro-Red Wing articles???

When we are expected to be the best is when we usually fail...(Exception - 2001-02 :champs:)

I don't know man, in those years of dissapointing early playoff exits, I always felt it was karma saying, "You can't just try to buy the Cup every year".

But this team has just been so well put together, and I have a really good feeling about this year. This organization is really setting a high bar for how to operate under a cap, and I love it.

Go Wings!
