JayUp88 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 So first off i would like to say I have better be so happy to be at a game they lost so badly. My reason for this was because, for those of you who weren't at the game, they have started a lot more marketing gimmicks for during the games and I won one of them. I was the guy they "moved up" which meant they gave me seats right behind the glass in these nice padded and cup holder friendly seats next to the zamboni entrance. All I had to do was fill out some paper with my name and info then they asked what kind of car I drive. They also asked for my cell number and not 10 minutes later they called and let me know that I was one of the winners. They let you bring one person down with you to watch the game and two people are picked. The other person that won was this really great older lady who had been a season ticket holder for 25 years and really knew her red wings. we let them sit on the glass for the first period and then they told us we needed to sit on the glass so we can pound the glass and fire them up a little for the 2nd and 3rd. They also interview us for the Joe Vision during one of the TV time outs. It was really something special. They also hired this girl (who is really hot and really nice) to do live cuts during break with the fans. for me it’s a really cool thing because it brings the fans into a lot more than just have some words up on the Joe Vision. They have also started doing the season ticket holder of the game (which I know has already been brought up but I am going to do it again). This is a pretty cool thing because I think they are trying to reward all the people who have stuck in for a long time. The first guy was the best so far because he had been a season ticket holder for around 50 years and he looked as excited as a kid when they gave him the signed Cheli jersey. Last thing i noticed was that starting in February almost every other game they are giving something out to the fans when they enter. Pretty nice stuff too like travel coffee mugs, Zetta flag, etc.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 I guess they needed to do something to improve their marketing, but as long as the ticket prices are so high, these other gimmicks aren't going to draw people to games the way the team wants.
Wing Nut 19 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Im sure the insurgence of the Tigers and that fact that The Lions actually played at times is cutting into the Fan Bankroll in Detroit. I agree with GMR lowering Ticket prices would improve attendance more than anything.

shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Congrat on getting moved up on your seats. I was at the game and let me say you looked great on the jumbo tron. Standing one step above that little old lady made it appear as though you were 7 feet tall. I have to say that it is pretty cool that they are starting to do stuff for the fans. I would love to think that after all the complaining that has happened on this site alone helped to make this happen. I'm sure it had nothign to do with it but we can all pretend. Standing one step above that little old lady made it appear as though you were 7 feet tall. Haha thanks I asked the girl if she wanted me down a step so i didn't look so tall (because I'm only 5'10). I felt stupid because i hadn't saved in three days so i was a bit scruffy. That old lady and her husband were so cool. They BS'ed with us the whole time, she knew her stuff. I also talked to the guy that I first met up with after I won and they said they are trying to do a lot more for the fans during the games. Look for more things to come too. lfd250 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 First of all, Jennifer is her name and I'm getting signitures to have her fired right away. She's 0-2 like you said, pretty to look at, not much else. Second, we took a poll around our seats and decided that from our angle those seats suck. You're right behind the net, could you even see the other end? Last years "best seats in the house were top row of the lower bowl, could see all the ice. But you're right, they are trying.

Well first off Jennifer was not all that bright but its better then nothing. As for the seats. I could see a lot more then I thought I would be able to see. I would never say those seats suck. I could see all the players up close it was great. Normally i sit up in the corner about 4 row away from the tip top so i was a happy camper. It usually takes a lot for me to be negative about anything so i loved it. Its funny Having a cup holder for my beer was pretty nice too. One of the first thing i thought of when i ended up down there was, "I wonder how many LGW people are hear tonight" I should have had a LGW shirt on.
lfd250 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 so you're saying it was like a nascar street race. Sweet up front but you don't know what the hell is going on at the other end?
JayUp88 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 so you're saying it was like a nascar street race. Sweet up front but you don't know what the hell is going on at the other end? Haha ya, not to take anything away from it because it was sweet but we kept joking that Ozzie and Dom were screening us when they would stand up.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) At the whalers games we pretty much have season tickets row 1 right to the right of the net... Love those seats... Sure you can't see "everything" going on at the other end, but man when the bone crushig hits come right at you, and the pucks miss the net and fly at your face before getting stopped by the glass.... there isn't a better seat in the house Plus you can see the whole ice in one shot without turning your head. Haha ya, not to take anything away from it because it was sweet but we kept joking that Ozzie and Dom were screening us when they would stand up. Good thing that doesn't happen much, eh? hehe j/king Very good point... right behind the net sucks ass... you have to be just off the right or left of it. Sorry this guy has to stick his finger in your kool-aid. It is awsome and I was standing where the Zamboni comes out for the first period, my firend knew a guy, and it was incredible from that point of view the whole game is differant. The speed they play at is only visible from there. It really gives you an idea of how hard they hit and how hard they shoot. Incredible seats if you ask me. I would have rather been there then in the bleeds. So it wasw a great story. Don't worry lfd250 you might win someday if you keep your fingers crossed then you won't have to be so jealous... Jealous of what? Not being able to see the whole game??? Not being able to see the what goes on away from the puck as it comes down the ice??? So did you guys see Downey try and start the fight by the penalty box and the guy wouldn't go? Did you see ozzie get up a little slow at the end of the first after the shot? I tell ya what, if I cross my fingers and win, you can have the seats. But hey, since your friend knows someone you probably can sit anywhere. Jealous. funny. He even admits he couldn't see some of the time. Edited January 16, 2008 by lfd250

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Nah its pretty sweet! Those seats are awesome. I like them better than center ice any day. Although i have been to about 15 whalers games in those seats this year so i am kinda biased. Love 'em! Vipers used to do that.... we got moved down to those seats at the palace... and a special treat was that it was during the '95 lockout and my friends and i got our picture in Sport Illustrated where they taked about fans getting their fix with the NHL out. JayUp88 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 You didn't happen to see if Jennifer has anything on her fingers did you? Some people would like to know. The funny thing is I did look, and no Jen did not (unless I just completely missed it). She was really friendly though. She came down by us and talked to me for a while as we were waiting for a commercial break. I really wish I would have at least shaved and not looked like a bum. Didn't think it would turn into a fight. Hey man sorry! It is something for you to be totally pumped about! I just thought it was kinda s***ty for someone to just trash a very positive post for no reason. It was just a bit silly. No totally awsome I wish i had known I would have said something. ldf man actually the guy my friend knows is not really all that important. I just wonder why you waste time trashing things but I just conclude that your an ass and an idiot. Your extremely bitter but it is not a requirement for LGWers to take a personality survey. It is cool to fight about what player sucks or who should start in net but to be an ass about someone's experiance is not worth fighting over. So I will just stop with that. EuroTwinLove40 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2008 All I had to do was fill out some paper with my name and info then they asked what kind of car I drive. Why did they want to know what kind of car you drive?? Did they have a brand preference or something?? Just wondering... That's pretty cool they started moving people up. Sounds like you had a good time, too bad the wings couldn't have gotten a win to make it better!

Yeah I noticed that too. Congrats on that win JayUp! Too bad they gave you prime seats of Ozzie and Dom's backsides though. With all the empty lower bowl seats, you'd think they could have given you one of those as the "Upgrade".
