OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) MO CHEESE. Amen and orange hat guy and knitting lady. as for the kids... i can hear it now... "mommy daddy can you please pay $60 for me so that i can see the belle tire guy??? Pweeeeeesseeee!!!" Marketing to the kids won't do anything if the parents can't afford to get them there. OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) Somebody should've told this to a Mr. Walt Disney. Unfortuantly for Mr. Monebags... He can't offer Entertainment for 8+ hours for that price... Disney can. Paying 60 for an entire day is different than spending 60 for 2-1/2 hours. At least for me it is. Then again... Tiger sta.... Commerica park does offer carnie rids of sorts and they they get ticket solds... maybe he needs to transfer the JLA into that as well. FedorovGurl 2 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 Oh okay fine, maybe other sporting events DO have cheerleaders.. but I still don't believe that they belong in hockey. However I don't believe oversized goalie pads, composite sticks, shoot-outs, or Gary Bettman belong in hockey either !! Call me a crazy hockey-purist. Guest jaytan Report post Posted January 28, 2008 I thought we had a big purple octopus mascot. Either way, I don't like mascots. They scare the kids, annoy the men and fondle the women. They're also notorious drunks.

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Hell I'd make more trips to JLA if they bought in cheerleaders, and they all dedicated a few minutes to give me giant bear hugs. *Has no shame*
zata40 3 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Loooooong time ago we had red bird mascot. It was years ago though, I like our current one better, that octupus rocks! ( I have a picture somewhere with Gordie and the mascot. If I find it I'll post it. )
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 I say the mascot should be Gordie Howe! Throw an oversized head on him and have him elbow kids
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Mascots scare me. Even as a kid they did. Similar to way clowns did when I was a kid and still do. I remember as a kid, my family went to Kings Island and the Banana Splits were running around the park. My family had to drag me to stand next to one of them for a photo opportunity. Looking back on it, the photo was just for them. I didn't want my photo next to him even though I was a fan of the show. Mascots are also a distraction. Wouldn't it be better if during a timeout the parents chatted with their kids, taking the opportunity to teach them the intricacies of the game. Certainly seems more sensible to me. I hear that chatter at the Joe. I don't at other arenas.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 29, 2008 Al's our mascot so says Wikipedia, for what that's worth. Named for Al Sobotka, who else? I am glad the Wings don't have cheerleaders or a smelly mascot running around scaring kids and bothering people at games. Our local low-level team here (Ice Bats) have a guy who runs around in a bat suit -- his name is Fang, which always makes me think of Phyllis Diller. If you're old enough, you'll get that reference. Anyway, he hugged me one time, toward the end of the season. I thought I was going to pass out from the fumes -- that costume's never met a bottle of Fabreze, shall we say?
