Rob Blake will be missing the next two to three weeks with a ankle injury.

Blake suffered the injury in Edmonton on January 15th, but played the last six games in discomfort. He returned to LA on Friday to receive treatment. Blake is going to be a unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so the Kings were probably shopping him around for the trade deadline. This injury might have cost the Kings a chance to showcase him to potential buyers for the deadline. Stay tuned for updates Feb. 2 - 5:51 pm et

Well, what does this do to his trade value?

Hopefully it drops it. Everyone backs off, the Wings give a decent offer, the Kings take it and the we win the cup.

I only think he'll goto Detroit or San Jose anyways. Not like there's gonna be a huge bidding war for him, but it should surely drop the asking price.

If it were between those 2, if Blake has the say, why would he go ther over here?? I mean, the one thing every team in the Pacific would like to do would be knock off Anaheim, so if there are rental players on those teams, why not go to a team that has a great chance. Plus, at this point, a decent young d-man and a low pick probably gets Blake.

Thank god we might not be getting him now... that makes me so happy!!!!!

Who would you rather have? I think it's pretty much down to Blake and Foote for guys with play-off experience, size, and dependability. Unless the Wings are going to go after a 7th dman.

...forget Blake now, even if he rests for 2-3 weeks, it won't be the same, he comes here and sucks or re-injures it in round 1 and we are no better than we are now. We go for Foote now...

...which means it'll be Fedorov and Foote in the Winged Wheel come Feb. 26th...

...welcome home Sergei and welcome to the "other side of the tracks" Foote! (hey, maybe give Forsberg a call ad tell him it'sok to come here and play.)

:lol::lol::lol:

...he will be back either at the deadline or as a UFA. You guys are gonna have to get over your hatred for him...

...it is already done, written in stone, as sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, Fedorov will retire a Red Wing...

You're dumb. Fedorov sucks now and is not what the Wings need. He will not be back.

Nobody or Feds... I don't need a new player at the dead line every year to be honest... I am content with the team we have and/or the addition of feds.

You really think Detroit is going to push for a guy that gets booed everytime he touches the puck in Joe Louis Arena? And I'm skeptical as to how Wings management and Fedorov feel about each other. Not to mention the fact that Columbus is only a few points out of a playoff spot right now, and unless they absolutely tank in the coming weeks, I'm not sure if they'd be interested in giving Sergei up.

As for Blake, the fact that he could be still be injured in the days leading up to the trade deadline will obviously diminish his value. I'm still all for getting him to try and shore up the second pairing. But if the pricetag is anything close to the rumoured "player, prospect and a first rounder", I say we look elsewhere.

He's got a concussion right now, he was still having headaches when he rode the stationary bike. I dont think its hatred for Feds on this forum, but I think some of the other opinions are easy to figure out.

your right. if just 1 D goes down int he playoffs, we have to watch meech as our 6th D for the rest of it. better yet if 2 go down like last year, we'll have the amazing combination of meech and quincey as our 3rd pair.

someone on the back end is needed.

this kills a potential Rob Blake trade. who is gonna invest in a rental that is hurt?

like i said earlier, see todd bertuzzi at last years deadline.

wasn't Bert recovering longterm from surgery? if Bert fractured somethin right before the deadline, even that trade wouldnt have gone down.

he was still injured. and the way i see it, it was more of a gamble on bert then it would be with blake. the guy has an ankel injury, bert was his back. we all know how annoying those problems can be ;)

i suspect the wings will still go after blake, and it prolyl wouldnt take as much now as it would if he didnt get injured. plus, he has the same name as me, cant wait to get his jersey :D
