jerm8352 3 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I would do everyone one of them in a heartbeat except the Kronwall one only because I don't know much about Brett Burns. The rest are no brainers.
Hank 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I would do everyone one of them in a heartbeat except the Kronwall one only because I don't know much about Brett Burns. The rest are no brainers. This is only my personal opinion but I think Burns is going to be one heck of a defensman. He's still very young but many feel he'll be regarded in the same category as Phaneuf and Shea Weber in a couple of years. In fact, a lot of hockey analysts think he'll be on the Canadian Olympic team in 2010. Size, strength, great hands, speed. Could be a good one for years to come. umredwing11 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Lecavailer - Zetterberg Iginla - Datsyuk Lucic - Filpulla Brett Burns - Kronwall Steve Downie - Hudler Keep the flames to a minimum please. Just wanted to see what people thought. I'd say yes to all of them except Iginla for Datsyuk. I like the way Iginla plays, but I can't get enough of watching Pavs play, both offensively and defensively. Other than that, the rest of the "trades" are no brainers. dallas27 7 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I don't see how you swap one of the most dangerous players in the offensive zone that also leads the league in takeaways. I wouldn't get rid of Z either purely based on the chemistry him and Dats have.
jim3033 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Downie for Hudler. That's it. Getting rid of Datsyuk and Z for anyone would be ridiculous.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 It's Brent Burns not Brett right? Yup. I would do all of these deals. But Im not sure I would do all of them together. Why? Wed have barely any centers. So we might have to pass on Lucic for Filppula and keep him as our #2 center. Although I really like Lucic. But just for s***s...yeah Id do all of them. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 You guys wouldnt trade Iggy and Lecavalier for Hank and Datsyuk. Youre talking about the two most complete players in the league here...skilled, scoring, big, physical, fighting, team leading, PKing, good skating forwards. Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I'd say no to both the Z and D deals, simply because I like them both. Lec. and Iggy may be better players, but Z and D are still great and form the nucleus of the team. I'd keep em for sentimental reasons.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 The way Hudler is playing right now, I can't think of anyone I wouldn't trade him for, other than Lapperierre.

There is more than skill (Z isn't too far behind those two in terms of a complete player), are Iggy and Lecavalier going to have the same chemistry as Z and Dats? Maybe, but you don't know that. I would do it in NHL 08. Otherwise no, I wouldn't.
LionsAndRedwingsAndPistonsOhMy 3 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Lecavailer - Zetterberg = No Iginla - Datsyuk = No Lucic - Filpulla = No Brett Burns - Kronwall =No Idea about Burns, can't even guess Steve Downie - Hudler = Yes Lecavailer and Iginla......would LOVE to have either, but not at the expense of the D&Z chemistry. For some reason, I really like Filpulla......so that's for personal reasons only. If I were a GM, I might change my tune.
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I'd only do the Iginla and Downie deals.

Opie 308 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) While I would love to have any of the first 3 I would not want to have them at the expense of the players you suggest. Call me Homer, call me ignorant, but I would rather root for the guys on the team, if they get traded fine I will root for who comes in. These threads (no offense meant Hank) are why people think Wing's fans are spoiled. BTW Kingston Lucic plays for the B's and if you like young guys who can't can hit, fight, and score goals he is your man. Edited because I am an idiot!!! Hes a great hitter and hes already taken down some heavies in this league, and hes only a rookie! Not to mention hes 19 years old and is on pace for 27 points on a full season averaging less than 11 minutes a game. Thats certainly not bad for a teenager playing for the almighty Bruins.. All those things you described apply to Fillpulla, especially his recent play, and not to Lucic.
