The thing we gotta look at is whether Fillpulla will be "Hossa" good. Honestly if its between having Fillpulla for a couple years and Hossa, I would pick Hossa 10 times out of 10. I like Flips and all, but we're talking about Hossa, here...

Yeah thats how I look at the situation. Besides, if we have Hossa for 5 years, Flip will be up for free agency at that point, so its possible that we would/will have only had Flip for the next 5 years too. Just a thought...

Al Strachan will be on hotstove, last night on the score he said he thinks hossa will goto montreal.

What can we give Atlanta that will help them "make the playoffs now"...Filppula and? I mean Ottawa is offering Vermette, San Jose maybe Cheechoo, Montreal Plekanic? who knows...

Looking at Filppula he's the cheapest, but would he give Atlanta the best chance to win now?

That "make the playoffs now" could just be a pr ploy to make it seem to the fans that they havent givin up on the season, even if they have. I doubt it but its a posibility

I know i'm gonna get flamed for this, but clearly getting injured really f'Ed us over. Cleary and a 2nd would have done it. YES I LOVE CLEARY but i woudl'Ve creamed my pants for that deal.

Jokinen going to Montreal makes most sense if you ask me. Goal scoring center..Higgins is great and all, but not a #1, and Koivu is really on his last legs..

Higgins is Draper, but he scores more...at least that is how I view it.

I don't see him as a #1 center, but I don't see the Habs trading him either.

Really dude?? Cleary is a playoff player. As good as he is during the season, this guy is made for the playoffs. He is a tireless worker who can play in all sorts of situations, and I wouldn't want to get rid of him for the world. I'd much rather get rid of Flip + some more than Cleary + a 2nd!

Let the Wings make a strong, strong move now and play it to Hossa that they aren't waiting on Sundin but, rather, are committed to him now. Give him the razzle dazzle that Holland/Ilitch always gives new players/staff and make him a convincingly long but reasonably priced (6.5-7 mill) contract extension.

Something has to give with Zetterberg, however. Prehaps the Wings could quietly convince him to play cheap ($3mill) until Lidstrom retires with strong insurances that they will give him the remaining years of his contract at Lids old salary ontop of his current salary. Or something like that. I'm just saying we have to think of Zetterberg AND Cleary. The upward movement of the cap accounts for Cleary and some of Zetterberg's contract. Where does the rest come from? *sigh* I'm sure Holland has it figured out since they're 6 mill under the cap now and Zetterberg's looking at a 4.5 million dollar raise from 09-10 onwards. Cleary should be making another 2 million ontop of his current salary, so we're looking for movement (cap or player) to clear up 7.5 million in room for the 09-10 season. No? All that's from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Ditto.

I would love to see Hossa locked up 4-5 years by Tuesday. IMO, he is the answer to the offensive question. The defensive question is a harder one. Foote, Sutton, Jackman, and whoever else could fill the void of "big guy on the blueline" is an issue that doesn't get as much discussion; but with our top 4 D out it is a lot bigger of late.

Anyway, GET HOSSA A.S.A.P. KENNY!!!

Holland has come on the record of saying that money is not an issue in upcoming years.

I know it has already been posted, but I ljust can't get enough of looking at the beutiful words that make up the statement. I PRAY IT HAPPENS

"Marian Hossa: Watters believes Hossa could end up in Detroit, citing the friendship between Thrashers GM Don Waddell and Red Wings GM Ken Holland, Hossa's agent "does a lot of business with Detroit", and Hossa's desire to play for a Cup contender."

Watters is hit and miss. Take it with a grain of salt.
