I think the Filpulla for Hossa rumor is the most solid rumor out there right now. I usually like Ansar Kahn but his whole statement is just speculation based on information from like two weeks ago. Things have changed, especially in the last 48 hours.

Flip rumors:

"As of right now, it's baloney. Lots of false rumors out there. Nothing's happened yet. I'd be very surprised if that trade goes down. Not going to trade Flip for a rental [god dammit he wouldn't be a rental]. Not a good chance of signing hossa long-term due to needing to sign Z. [except the cap keeps going up]"

Sundin:

"Don't think that'll happen but I think there's a better chance of that than getting Hossa. Sundin wants to stay in Toronto it looks like. But getting closer to the deadline, maybe he'll reconsider. If he does, he has a NTC, and Detroit would be at the top of his list."

Sundin:

"Wouldn't be willing to give a lot because he's a rental. Won't trade a top prospect for a guy like that. Maybe a fringe prospect + pick. Similar to bertuzzi thing last year. Definitely won't give up a 1st rounder for a rental."

Fedorov:

"Out of all the players out there he might be the most realistic. Not the player he was but he's still effective. Could put him on the 3rd or 4th line and play a role. If they don't get Feds at the deadline, I think there's a very good chance he signs as a FA. It depends if CLB decides to be a seller or not. It's important for them to make the playoffs, so they won't jump the gun. Can't imagine the wings would give more than a mid round pick for him. Just depends if someone outbids them."

Kaberle:

"I doubt it. Cost too much. They're banged up but the defense is fine. Need another scoring winger. They're concerned about secondary scoring because it's really fallen off with Flip, Huds, and Sammy slumping. On defense they might add a veteran #6/7 guy for depth. I don't see them making a big run at a top 4 guy"

Steve Staios/older player who can be a 4th/5th guy:

"Depth guy would be what they're looking for. Would like some size and abrasiveness but every team wants that. Staios is signed through 2012 so he's not going anywhere. They really need Danny Markov. He's gone for good though. It was a mistake by him not to take the Wings contract offer. He thought he could do better on the market, but couldn't and now he's in russia for less money than he'd be making here."

Brad Stuart:

"Possible. Modry cost a 3rd rounder. Stuart is better. 2nd rounder or more. Lots of competition for a guy like that who might not even be that good. Looks better compared to the guys out there. There's a chance but I don't think that's their focus."

Fedotenko/Prospal:

"Don't know about Fedotenko. Prospal is someone that's a possibility. He and his coach don't get along so there's a good chance he will be moved. He's probably on the radar."

Most likely to be a Wing: Fedorov

Mac will sign by the end of the week. Will stay in GR for 2 weeks on a conditioning stint. He'll be with the big club for the last month. Doesn't mean he'll play.

He's saying the same things everyone's (everyone who doesn't know what's already been discussed) been saying here. Of course were not going to trade filppula for a rental, who would? HOSSA IS NOT A F*CKING RENTAL. The numbers are on this thread that he COULD be afforded.

Ansar is definately forced to buy the company line. It's possible Kenny is trying to stir up a nice deal and isn't showing his cards. Stuart even looks difficult to aquire since Philly had to use such a high asset with LA.

I think we'll get McCarty and one other guy. Maybe not even a big name. Secondary scoring is going to have to pick it up.

I agree. I'm glad we got a new coach after 'I forget his name' didn't do so well after his first 2 seasons in the post season. But was that too long to wait? I thought we had enough skill to win a cup on one of those seasons.

I'm sure they are looking at it at a lot more angles than we are though. I thought last year was a good run. Almost felt we should have won it.

I listened to that hole Kahn interview and i don't know how reliable he is but i think we'll atleast land one impact player and maybe a 5-6th defencemen. I think he's right that Stuart will cost more then usual as theres not too many sellers.

Kenny has got to make moves. McCarty is good for depth and grit. But he needs a Stuart/Blake and a Sundin/Fedorov for secondary scoring and defensive depth. He cannot just make depth moves this year.

Yeah, I agree. He sounds like Valentii and Foster on 97.1 fm, they seem to know nothing about the cap right now, and how contracts and sign and trades work!

I just don't see a way where we just end up with D-Mac and Fedorov. Even if there is another Defenseman added as well, I just don't see that getting us over the top.

To be honest I'm thinking Holland won't swing any major trade...He'll probably end up getting Fedorov for a 4th, or 5th rounder, maybe a depth Dman like Staios for either a 3rd rounder, or prospect, & sign McCarty for league minimum.

Holland doesn't come across as the type who'll jeopardize our future for rentals, or for that matter several picks/prospects for 1 player.

Fedorov will fetch more then a 4th or 5th rounder. I'm thinking a 3rd, maybe even a 2nd depending on the market for him. Staios? no thanks, he's signed til' 2012.

Funny thing is about Filppula's facebook someone said he had Quincey on his friends list, and i know 100% Quinceys is real because i have him on my friends and i stalked his facebook once and read his wall posts to see if it was real and you could tell they were all his IRL friends leaving posts.

So blah.

I didnt really look at his friends list that close. but I dont remember seeing him on there. But I could be wrong. If it wasnt Flips it had to be someone who knew him well, having family and friends from Finland on there. As well as someone else stated, having other hockey players on there that arent well known, so why would someone fake that account?

I think Mac is a good security move in our defense, that costs next to nothing. Feds is another security move, but due to it's cost, I've just been impartial to it. I'm glad Mac's Back, but Feds basically not worth it to me. My personal thought is the wings office have been hyping that possability (Fed) as a cover or as a backup to what they really want to do (whatever that is, be hossa or someone else).
